STFU Vince certs  (in the US ) are a fucking joke ,it doesn't matter how retarded you are  as long you pay your fees you'll be certified ,but I agree with you ,Namat should get certified because that's the way things are  done  in the USA

A lot of certifications are joke which is why you have to check them out before signing up.  However, its not just about personal training but its also about making money and building a business from personal training...something that the proper organizations do.

I disagree, most certs are pretty extensive when it comes to basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and nutrition. Are some more extensive than others, of course, but just like earning a degree (and like certs, there's a degree for everything) you learn the MINIMUM amount required to get that degree or cert after that the rest is up to you for continuing education through seminars, symposiums, conventions, dvd's, reading, etc. Like anything else, if you want to keep you're cert you are required to do a certain amount CEU's, if you're a Dr. and you want to keep your license, you're required to do a certain amount of CEU's.

You get out of it what you put into it. Problem is Steve doesn't want to do anything except collect money.

Unbelievable you guys still not get bored with this subject.  ::) And Coach I already told you on MD that I already get the pt certification back in Hungary in 2002-2003 then here in the States I'm working with Propta on/off since 2009 (yes, that's a certification too). But open your eyes guys...ANYBODY can get those certifications...so the MAIN thing is I'm an IFBB Pro and a IFBB Olympa competitor. So I know my thing!

With your massive intellect, surely you realize that most who go into Personal Training do not do so with a long-term career in mind, but as a temporary source of income while they pursue something else; thus, the comparison to bartending and waiting tables. Do you think Namat thinks of himself, first, as a trainer or as a pro-bber?

Those certifications that Goodrum so proudly displays, are, by necessity, easy to obtain, as noted by Arnold Jr. There's only so much time and expense people will endure to get a $10 an hour gig at LA Fitness.

You seem to have a disconnect between what you believe a trainer should be, a highly-trained, professional, and what they are: glorified rep-counters/rent-a-friends.

That said, don't give up hope, perhaps one day Personal Training will get the respect it so richly deserves.

Then again:

Lol no clown anyone serious in fitness/personal training/ nutrition field has an ultimate goal of owning their own practice or private training facility which is a little more complicated "waiting tables or bartending" and can make a fine living especially if you live in a decent metropolitan area.

Like I said before , you pay you get you cert .

You also pay to get a degree. Most people who graduate with a degree wind up doing just the opposite of what they went to school for.

and 99% of them end doing personnal training while injecting steroids all life long, or doing g4p,  seducing old men/women for money.

0.5% of them get an education, get serious about life and other more fulfiling interests. Learn to care about someone else but themselves.

0.5% of them... succeed. In general helped by someone with brains on the side, either a wife, or sugar momy/dady doing the comptability and using them as sex toys in return.

Whatever floats your boat. Everyone survives the way they want can, who are we to judge. But for fuck sake, dont try to fool people who know what's really going on, dont try to pretend being something, someone, you aren't.

If you want to be respected, have a respectable life, goals and morality, CARE about the others, the link between them and you, which is also what makes you feel good, and not just their money.  What makes you feel good isnt their money, it's helping them increase their chances of survival, their hapiness. If you dont see things that way you re an asshole plain and simple, and you re not even enjoying your job.
Most people in this business are lonely losers with father issues looking for the attention they didnt have as childs and found the holy graal in "building muscles" which produces increased serotonin levels in the brain such producing the feelign of "hapiness". Cool for you. But do you really need to be an asshole at the same time?  Newsflash there are millions of people and more and more getting into weight lifting -i didnt say bodybuilding- and who understood what you understood. They work normal jobs, have a life and are a lot more productive, useful to the others than you being another narcistic gym asshole only caring about how he s going to pay his next dose.

My Diploma in Fitness and Exercise took about a year to complete and it far from being easy.  It was a lot of bookwork, research, and studying.  However, it was well worth it and necessary in order to compete with other trainers.

In addition what most people don't realize is that you can make a ton of money from personal training by branching off from it such as group training (boot camp), supplement sales, nutritional consulting, etc.  When you add that all up, its the reason why I work when I want to work and punch no time clocks.  But you can't get anywhere if you don't get the education.

Show me one client you have trained. Show me one person who will vouch for you. Do you have a pic of yourself training someone in the gym or drilling a group in boot camp? Is there a single person who will tell us he/she paid you to set up a diet for them? An yes, I'm sure you're making a ton of money by trying to sell a no-name brand of supplements at the flea market.

I think this is all pure fantasy. Maybe you think it will come true if you fake it long enough?

Our wrestling team just won another state title, does that count?

Correction: 2 of our wrestlers won state in the 189 and 215lbs classes. Team took 6th overall and 1st in the small school state title. But I'm just a PT.

This is what I do for a living, this is how I pay my bills so of course I don't get bored discussing personal training.  Especially to someone who just doesn't get it.

BTW, I don't really acknowledge the ProPta as they are not accredited by the NCCA or the US Dept of Education or DETC for that matter.  However, I looked on the site and your name isn't there Steve so I'm sure as to your relation to the ProPTA

Steve, without the use of any bodybuilding drugs how much do you figure you'd weigh if you were in shape? (i.e. if you were still dedicated to training and nutrition) . . . 160-something?

Vince G: never trained not even one person. Delusional.

Uberman: internet loser who likes to talk shit about others (aka attention whore) and for some weird reason he thinks he's sounding cool . Probably 14-16 years old.

The coach: He knows his stuff but he's hating on Namat just like the persons mentioned above.

Again, being an IFBB pro or a bodybuilding doesn't mean shit when it comes to working as a personal trainer.  You have an certificate from an organization that isn't accredited whatsoever and awards those certifications to any IFBB pro.  That and the fact that you've posted up a thread on this board and MD.com begging for clients in online personal training speaks volumes.  You have no clue in marketing yourself to get clients nor the means of facilitate the craft.

One thing I can assure you Steve...you won't make a red cent going this route and once you get tired of having an empty wallet and people ridiculing you at your hapless attempts then you might actually let some of this advice sink in.

Yes you're an IFBB pro but you'll continue to clean houses for a living until you get your shit straight.

Yeah I have to clean apartments too...I arrived to the States in 2009 with my wife, 4 bags, no work visa and $3000...we didn't know anybody in this country. 10 month later I placed 2nd at the Tampa Pro and qualified to the Olympia...try that bro...then talk shit about me.

In nearly ten years of personal training and doing contest prep both in person and via online I have yet to have one single person ask me what my credentials were, I've yet to have one person ask me what kind of certifications I have and I have yet to lose a client to another trainer because that trainer has a bunch of accredited credentials. In real life this simply doesn't happen. Granted, some gyms will require you to have certain certifications and credentials if you wish to train people at their gym, this is true but if you're independent as I am and as I am assuming Steve is it doesn't make any difference.

The Truth:

I have trained hundreds of people from all walks of life, I have done contest prep for every form of competitor there is, I have written for numerous bodybuilding/fitness websites and magazines, I have covered pro bodybuilding shows for the past few years and I'm currently in the process of launching a new bodybuilding/fitness media outlet....I have one certification I got online that took only moments and to tell you the truth I think it's actually expired. The point, all this business you're talking about is meaningless, I'm proof.

No offence Vince, but Vanbilderass asked you a question.

Thats a good question.....I used to post pictures of my clients on my website but nutcases like Onlyme would go call them up and harass them over the phone so I stopped posting their pictures a few years back.  Now that he's dead and the rest  I'm planning on putting them back up along with Youtube videos of the group training sessions I do.

Group training and boot camps are the best thing in training since sliced bread, Coach.  Very easy to do, saves scheduling time as everyone comes in at the same time, no training equipment required, and keeps you from being dependent upon individual clients.

Hopefully, I don't run into the same problem as before.
