Shawn Ray was NOT close to Dorian in any way shape or form in this contest , fact is he was trailing behind Kevin Levrone after prejudging and he only beat Kevin with a better posing routine in the evening show and the crowd was incensed with Shawn beating Kevin for second

This video has been posted before and it's typical Shawn trying to fluff himself up to something he's not but hey they always say you have to convince yourself that you're great before you can convince anyone else

Shawn talked shit it's what he did , before Dorian he talked shit about Haney , and after Yates he talked shit about Ronnie , mind you Shawn claimed Ronnie shouldn't have won in 1998 that he and Flex were better , and Ronnie should have won most improved but not the entire contest , typical Shawn talking shit and not based in reality

he did great for a little guy , he had a nice physique but he simply wasn't in Dorians , Lee or Ronnie's league.

Shawn could have easily been 235 on stage. He had to keep his quads in check, as he was bottom heavy in a sense. His quads grew, and he did talk about not wanting to come in heavier, but wanting to be balanced...it worked in a sense, but would have worked better had he been taller or had it been Flex.

He could still fit in a tailored suit without looking outrageous

I totally get people saying Shawn's physique is the type of physique that should be what represents what the Mr Olympia title is , but I deal with what happened not what could have happened , what should have happened , what might have happened , etc

according to how contests are judged Dorian was the clear winner in 1994

All bullshit aside, for as much as Shawn is/was an asshole to the fans of this sport and in general towards humanity (Probably directly related to his Napoleon complex), you have to admit that he was (A) very attractive by way of facial features, one of the few that can shave his head down to the skin and still have a great looking face and (B) physically blessed with excellent genetics for putting on quality muscle, albeit in the presence of anabolic steroids. Height is a different story, but you can't beat what hand you were dealt with..

Not true actually , people in Haney's day were bitching & complaining Bob Paris should be the Olympia ideal and his physique represented the epitome of bodybuilding , nothing new. If anything Haney started the trend.

Jay wasn't slightly off in 08 or 07. He was fucking horrible and lucky to have been top 5. I also thought Ronnie or Victor should have won in 06. Phil should have won in 10 and 09 was a toss up between Jay and Dexter.

To all the posters that think Shawn was narrow or incomplete:

WAKE UP AND GET A FUCKING CLUE........

Every bodypart was complete......the man was dialed in for damn near every show......he posed with grace. Yates was a fantastic bodybuilder......with the freakiest traps and back EVER......but Dorian was far from complete......Shawn should have at least two Sandows.......maybe more......he was the complete package......you fellas that are hung up on what a guy weighs in at.....need to learn more about what bodybuilding is really about! IMHO
