I'm trying to disrespect the troops or anything. But God Damn that sounds like a shitty job.

Great respect for the troops that are dedicated to defend their country, for freedom and more. Tough for David Henry and his family and wife, and his goals in competing and other forms of business.

It's sad that the US has reached this point. But we are at the point where the US military is not really doing anything noble or positive. It's just imperialism, murder and corruption.

The US military has become a tool for the billionares to play with. They are sent on $$$ missions under the guise of liberation and fighting terror.

Hard to argue this fact anymore.

Most Military people are pretty cool. But I don't think there's anything really heroic about it these days.

most of these guys are sick, they want the oppurtunity to blow shit up and kill people. and they want a good paycheck without having to get an education. so the military is perfect for them

theres a reason you see a shitload of ex vets begging for money on street corners.

if they do 20 years they get their medical paid for, thats about it.

I agree with blackflag. There is nothing noble about the US military any longer. How could there be? It represents the USA, which is a degenerate entity in every way. Note that I'm not saying the rest of the world is any better.

Most people who join the US Military come from poor families and live in shitty parts of the U.S. In general, they left situation in which there wasn't much opportunity for them.

A long time ago I was in the same situation. Broke. Stuck in a shitty dead end job. A wage slave. Couldn't find a way out. So I talked to the Marines recruiters. I went in there 3 times and talked to them, but in the end I decided not to do it.

Instead I went through college and graduated. Worked shitty jobs for a while and paid my dues while working for somethign better.

Thank god I didn't join the military. What a shitty decision that would have been. It's a dead end.

David Henry isn't 18, he's 36. The re-enlistment rate is high, you do the math.

risk getting killed? these guys are volunteering for the biggest most powerful most advanced military the world has ever seen, with a yearly budget biggger than most countries on the planets entire GDP, and equal to the next 12 biggest militaries on the planet combined. these guys have every advantage possible. most of them have an immortality complex and arent in the leats bit scared of dying. well, maybe once they get over there and start getting shot at. there was alot about this in the news the past few years, because the guys who come back from iraq/afganistan have been dying at alarming rates due to dumbass decisions they make once they get home. taking enormous risks and dying because of it, because they developed that immortality complex after suriving a war.

anyways, im not saying that all military personell are uneducated, sick in the head, eager to kill, overpaid, over compensated nutjobs. just most of em

in all actuallity, there are a ton of guys who join because they want to be part of something biigger than themselves, want o give their life for freedom, want to do something good and honorable. for those guys, and they are a minority, resect is much much overdue and undergiven.

I don't know why lots of you blindly support the military. What exactly are you guys supporting? So many American people just turn the logic off in their brains and blindly "support the troops" from their armchairs.

Take an objective look at the US military and what it is being used for. It's all shady right now.

These people signing up for the military are just looking for money, some travel and adventure, a change of pace from the rotten and miserable life they live in the US, or sometimes they are blindly patriotic and ignorantly think that they are doing something righteous.
