So who's next?
« on: March 07, 2011, 08:11:06 PM »
Past couple of months we've had the returns to WWE of Diesel, Booker T, Trish Stratus, Rock, Stone Cold, JBL, a bit of HBK and the returns from injury of HHH and Taker.  As much as I'm enjoying these guys being back, I'm hoping Vince is going somewhere with this, and it's not just a lousy ploy to spike the ratings/buys for WM, cos it'll be even worse if all of them disappear again after the big one.

Those are not full time returns. Just cameos in most cases or very short term contracts. Nash & Booker have stepped back and are working soley behind the scenes. What you are all seeing is a desperate company owner making desperate decisions to aid an ailing product.

Yeah, I get that, but Nash and Booker have signed on for now, Stratus and Austin are doing Tough Enough, Rock says he's 'back', whatever that means, so that would lead us to believe that they'll be around for a good portion of 2011.  But is Vince actually gonna use them properly, get them to work with the current roster, etc.  Or do they turn up, do a promo, and walk away with a cheque.

Well.....when you gotta bring a retired Trish Stratus back for a cameo to fight an out of shape lard ass Vicky Guerrerro.....when you gotta put a retired HOF'er like Jerry Lawler in a WM card....when you gotta sheel out BIG money to sway The Rock from Hollywood back to Pro Wrestling......when you gotta bring in Steve Austin and a retired JBL for in ring cameos.....that all says one thing.....THE PRODUCT STINKS.

Timmy is Federation for life but your right Playboy. This current product is just not working. How much do you think VKM is paying these guys to come back? Trish, JBL, 3:16, and the Brahma Bull? If these Superstars are only part time until Mania? Isn't this just digging the hole even deeper? Having these guys back is just making the other talent look worse. As for the King Wrestling? I'll be outside tending to the BBQ while that match is going on. Never cared for the King.

Who knows how much. The Rock and Stone Cold carry a bug price tag, you can take that to the bank. I would imagine that JBL and Trish probably got like 10 grand for the one appearance. The sad part is that the old territories are gone. Back in the day if your wrestling product got stale, a promotor could recruit talant from Mid-South or AWA or NWA or even Japan. Now, if the product is lame, Vince has no choice but to pray the one of his OVW students can turn into an instant superstar who can wrestle, travel and deliver killer promos without thinking twice.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Foley back soon.

Vince will take him.
WWE plugged his latest book when it came out not too long ago, and Foley acknowledged & thanked them for it.

I could see that, but what would they do with him?  Put him back on commentary, and kick out Lawler or Booker?

Maybe he could be next year's Wrestle Mania host.

^^ Not a bad book.
My cousin went to college with him - Clarion University, somewhere in rural PA.

Strange seeing him with hair.

Read this in a couple of hours a few years back.

Got it for a dollar at a discount book store.

It was a good read. A dollar well spent.

I don't think that will happen. Most TNA events are in Florida which is also TNA's home base and that is where Foley and most wrestlers live. They could drive to a venue, do their job and return home to their families without travelling 250-300 days a year.

That's true. I haven't seen him on tv in ages, so I'm even sure what his role in the company is. I could see him coming back once or twice a year like Austin does. It wouldn't happen but I think he would make an awesome manager for a few younger guys.

I still remember watching the PPV when he fought the Rock at RR 1999 when the Rock hit him with 20 chair shots to the head. Foley didn't even know which way the dressing room was. Some road agents had to come out and point him / escort him in the right direction. His response? "I hope the people really feel they got their money's worth."

I thought Foley lived in NY? My Brother always sees him at the LI Ducks games in the summer.

Foley was born in Long Island, and I believe his parents and various other family members still live there.
I would suspect he visits them regularly.
From what I've heard, and the very few times I've met him, he seems like a very down to earth guy.

And he hitch hiked to MSG to see Snuka wrestle Muraco in a Steel Cage which inspired him to become a pro wrestler.
