Branch winning the 2011 Arnold Classic makes you wonder how Arnold himself would compare against the recent champion. In many ways, Arnold is the 'Bizarro Branch': Tall, perfect lines, shape and symmetry, great arms, separated back, slim but separated legs etc...

Incredible how BB has progressed.....or... anyway it shows how great Arnold was as a BB. Check out his legs from 73/74... not bad.

Wow, just makes you realise how far ahead of his time he was.

It was photos like these of Arnold that got me into bodybuilding. I remember being about 13-14 when he was on a talk show in Melbourne. I decided right there and then that I refused to look like the other 99.9% of the population and took up weights. All I wanted for xmas that year was "The education of a bodybuilder" I still have it 30+ yrs later

Thanks Arnold.

Just how many live did he change?

Most extra weight in the thick midsection, ass and thighs thats not needed. While have smaller flatter pecs and arms, a sloppy back etc
I think Branch would look like a squatty mess.

Branch looked great at a lighter bodyweight. Somewhat unfair comparison.

legs and backs need to be big, so waistlines get big too, body cant handle that mass

when arms dont respond they inject seo, if arms respond, they still inject seo, same for delts

the last really huge freaks that looked respectable were nasser pre-oil, dillet.
Dorian and fux started the gut thing already, but just before they added the new size, they had the max what the human body should carry

as an example, do you guys remember momo benaziza before he passed? he'd packed on insane muscle on a 5'2" frame, he looked square. he had also started developing a gut, had the guy survived, who knows what would've become of his physique!

problem is, its too late to turn around and back to the early 90's

True. Momo was more than Dorian the first to put insane mass on his frame. '93 Dorian was probably the most a body could handle with respectable lines. But already his mid-section wasn't heading in the right direction, his only flaw that year. Whatever happened after may have been impressive (Ronnie of course), but no Mr.O has had a acceptable waistline except Dexter since those days.

This, the physique type displayed by Arnold, is what should win today, but nooooooooooooooooo.  As for the Oak's legs being "slim"?

Nope, no way.  The measurement of the legs taken together should equal the measurement of the chest.  If we are to believe Arnold's measurements (and they were purportedly agreed upon by the folks at The Guinness Book of World Records), his chest was 57", legs 28 1/2".

Aesthetics dictate this.  The arms, neck and calves should measure the same and Arnold's arms and calves were with 2" being 22 1/2" and 20 1/2" respectively.  I do not recall ever reading what his neck measured.  And as always, Arnold had a waistline, not a WASTEline like the Texas Turdlet or the rest of what passes for a bodybuilder today.  What has been going on in bodybuilding is comparable to the episode on South Park about who crapped out the largest turd.  No matter how big these people get, they're still just a turd.

Just look at the retarded way in which they display their shitty physiques.  Even in a side chest pose they squat down like they're crapping on the stage.  Why?  To "accentuate" their grossly overdeveloped  ass and legs and to try and take away the focus on their huge, distended stomachs?  Fuck that noise.

If I could like like anyone, it would be Steve Reeves.  Second would be Arnold and that's saying a lot because I'm against drugs.  But I am honest.

start living in the future or invent a time machine so you can get 'ass' with your 'big arms' and no legs/ass

all this 'arnold was the best' shit is regurgitated over and over again BUT things have changed - just like you old girl has moved on, get over it

and go buy some tren, gh, test OR stay a pussy and take pro hormones and watch your balls suck up inside your

godspeed ;)

yes, good point, things have changed and we'll never go back to that
branch has good freak qualities, I'm amazed by his quads, overall freaky physique, even the torn arms look very good, especially considering he's had multiple injuries, he's also brought up his back

unfortunately it affects the waistline, but thats modern bbing, and once you've done sub-10 sec quarters, you cant suddenly start doing 12 secs can you? even if the previous cars had more "flair".

its not exactly progress, more evolution of bbing
