Tsunami -- Not again!
« on: March 11, 2011, 01:17:55 AM »
Another Tsunami watch. It's schedule to hit by 3:00 am Hawaii time. This one I'm taking more seriously and heading to higher ground around 2-2:00 am.

The area that I live is below sea level so I do plan to evacuate. Did you suffer any damage?

No i am fine, some books fell out of the shelf.

I am really lucky, but here in Tokyo the damage seems rather low.

Better safe than sorry, evacuate and come back when you know it's ok.

Yeah, my friends who are vacationing there were being evacuated about an hour ago.  They said the emergency broadcast kept playing.  Never been there but always wanted to go.  Would love to live at the Masters estate with my two dobermans.  They would patrol the grounds while I swim in the tidal pool and rub elbows with Dog the Bounty Hunter.

I'm right on the shore line. I can literally throw a rock and hit the ocean. And my area is below sea level. Right now I'm just packing and trying to protect some things in the house. Wrapping stuff in big garbage bags. It's projected to be about 6 feet. That's not like a six foot wave but the ocean rising 6 feet as it makes it's way to the shore. The upstairs will be OK but downstairs will be soaked.

I hope you stay safe Pellius.  Didn't you post some photos awhile back of you near the shore?  You are very lucky to live in Paradise.

That was during the last tsunami when I was very sure nothing would happen. This time I'm not so sure and taking it very seriously.

Make sure to save as much as possible, i wish the best to you, and be safe.

I have seen pics of cars and whole houses getting whirled around by the tsunami here in Japan, so make sure you are as safe as possible when it hits you.

Hawaii should be fine even the biggest quake ever in Chile in 1960 which was 9.5 didn't cause much damage to the islands except for in Hilo Bay.
