Cotto vs. Mayorga
« on: March 12, 2011, 09:19:48 PM »
Anyone watch this fight? Mayorga still has balls of steel and gave Cotto everything he was worth.

Yes but they should really test themselves, instead of fighting shop worn fighters.

True. Pac is a wrecking ball, but wins over Oscar, Hatton, Margarito and cotto overrated considering each one was damaged goods and/or totally over the hill (Oscar). Roach is very cunning in hand picking Pac's fights for him.

Sergio's fight was no different than Berto vs Hernandez.  Guy was over-matched.  Martinez will either have Williams III or will have to fight a super-middleweight, Froch, Ward or Dirrell, at 163 for a good payday which his people dont want to do.  Not sure his left translates into the same power punch at 160 vs one of the top 168s.  Anyway...

oh...and cotto will fight marg next, not touch martinez at 154-155.  mosley and marg are getting paid good money to play punching bags.

Seriously? Dizzy is one of the best at 154 and Hernandez was another bum Berto fought.

Daniel Santos and Dawson are his prime US fights.  Pretty much fought out of Germany which equals classic stiff Euro fighter which equals easy punching bag for slick, fast hand southpaw which equals safe fight for martinez vs meeting a super middleweight at a catch weight which his manager has said he wants no part of.  Martinez/Willaims III because Cotto is too slow and his people know this.  FMW vs Martinez at 152 is a great fight but FMW wont touch another guy like Judah who can get a punch off faster than him since Martinez wont mentally implode like Judah so FMW ass would have a tougher fight than Paco who he will counter-punch the fuck out of the stadium when he gets thru his legal drama filled BS.

Che...how did Alexander do, did he win since I missed the fight  ::)

BTW...Martinez would kill Marg inside of 3 rds now.  Marg vs Cotto...the slow hand punch show is next on HBO.

I just watched Cotto vs Mayorga on youtube.
Was an entertaining fight! :D
Say what you want on Mayorga but if there were more fighters like him boxing would be more popular nowdays.
Compare this fight (Mayorga vs Cotto: 2 boxer problably past their prime) to that crap of match Alexander vs Bradley (2 boxer in their prime) and you have an idea of why boxing is becoming so unpopular! ;)

Just goes to show how much better Trinidad and Oscar were compared to Cotto. Mayorga is over the hill and gave Cotto a very tough fight. Trinidad, and especially Oscar, took a prime Mayorga on and decapitated his head.

cotto has no business at light middle. He's only there b/c he's at the end of his career. Tito or Oscar would have destroyed him (cotto) at middle within 6 rds prime vs prime at 54. At 47 he (cotto) wouldn't make it past a prime ike quartey let alone tito or oscar at 47.

You could say the same if Oscar and Tito had to fight with the likes of Duran,Hearns or Leonard: Oscar and Tito would be murdered in the ring!

Martinez vs.  Ward seems to have a lot of potential after Ward finishes runaway with the Super Six.

i guess he thought i was trying to turn it into some blk/latin thing.  oscar took a punch to give a punch and would have been made in heaven for a hearns' right.  tito himself had a great single shot and may have done better vs hearns like iran barkley did by just surviving hearns' power early.
