M1 responds to StrikeForce acquisition...
« on: March 13, 2011, 09:59:21 AM »
"Fedor's contract is with Showtime Networks Inc. and we're excited to be working with such a premium North American outlet," Kogan said.
M-1 Global, which also promotes events, recently signed a new TV deal with Showtime as well. They debut on the network on March 25.
Kogan pointed out that the new deal between Zuffa and Strikeforce effects nothing in their own deal with Showtime.
"The purchase of Strikeforce doesn't affect M-1 at all," Kogan stated. "Our TV deal is with Showtime and we're happy. It's business as usual for M-1 Global as we close into our March 25 event."

Sounds to me like a sore loser.  They know there days are limited in the MMA market in the US.

M1 is bad for the sport. PERIOD.

They ruined Fedor's career.

Maybe Fedor will be fighting himself on Showtime. I'm guessing he will still lose.

Fedor will still beat 95% of the guys put in front of him.  If not more.

agreed...

not real big on his apparent mindset right after the fight, but anyone who writes him off or downplays his career based on what's happened in the last 10 months is crazy.

I think this is the best thing that could have happened to Fedor, IF M1 & Dana do it right. If it were up to me, I would give him the following match ups: Kongo, Mir, JDS & Carwin. I think he would destroy Kongo, probably beat Mir and then have his hands full with the other two. But, if he could get past these 4 guys, he would retire as the greatest of all time...no argument from anyone.

They are obviously just a bunch of mob connected leaches who actually think they're brand should be alongside the UFC, and do a pretty good job of taking resources from other hard workers.

I can't believe I am agreeing with ShitPusher. Yes, M-1 ruined Fedor, and the only thing that makes me happy about Fedor losing is seeing Fadim Finkelstein lose.

Same here dude I hope we never have to hear From M1 again. They weaseled their way into Fedors life and the MMA world and are only in it for themselves. Leached off a good person in Fedor and wasted a pretty good portion of his career.

Fedor is a very intelligent fighter, but he is pretty dumb person. Finkelstein took advantage of Fedor's low intelligence for practical things to ruin him and his career. Now he is 35, at the twilight of his career and he cannot beat opponents who outweight him by a lean 60 lbs and are in their primes at age 30. It is over for Fedor. I believe he would dominate everyone as a light-heavy, because he is technically even better than Shogun, Machida, etc, and he would have an absurd power advantage over them. Fedor is very powerful for his size. This is why he can hold his own an even win a round against 285 lbs freaks.

I agree with you 100%. I think if Shogun (or any LHW at that level) would have fought Big Foot it would have gone exactly the same way with the size difference being too much. The skill set is there, but fighters are getting bigger and better. That combined with Fedor getting old and obviously slowing down makes for the end result. And I think it is over for Fedor at this point, unless he decides to move down in weight which would be very interesting. However, he is a family man now thats always talking about god and religion and it doesn't seem like he even wants to fight anymore..
