Some people though this mess in japan wouldn't affect the legislation of US politicians.

Congress is falling right into line with an irrational, knee-jerk reaction to any crisis worldwide.

Of course, the problem in Japan is an anomaly, but you know our politicians

Yep.  Any new funding (obama wanted 35 bil for new ones) and new sites (good luck getting any americans to say "hey, put one in my town" now).

This will be an issue that nobody will touch for a new months.

Sorry but 8.9 earthquakes are rare, beside CA what are the odds of one happening on US soil.

I guess that's really the question... Who will let them put a nuclear power plant by their house now?

Can we put all of them in the desert?

Like I said.

If we fill up the desert with Nuclear power, how much of a chain reaction will occur if one does melt down and it causes the next one to do so and on and on?

There are nuke plant designs available and in the works that are, for all intents and purposes, meltdown-proof.

Lots more politicians coming fwd saying it's time to pause new nuke growth.  All the channels are talking about.

Lieberman slipped and said we should "quietly" then changed it to quickly, cut back the talk on any new plants.

After 3 mile island and chermobyl, public opinion (and funding) dried up.  These politicians didn't become some of the most powerful people in america by not being aware of what people are thinking.  They're gonna cut back the talk for a few months.

These are the same fools who are also against drilling, coal, gas, oil, natural gas, hydro, etc.

I hope when we are facing $8 a gallon gas, sitting in the dark due to rolling blackouts, and facing energy crisis, Lieberman will reveal his brilliant plan.

I'm sick of these pandering fools.
