Washington (CNN) - Three days after her widely-reported gaffe, Rep. Michele Bachmann explained it by essentially saying: I made a mistake, but the media's reporting of it proves bias.

Bachmann made the comments on Tuesday during an interview on the conservative Laura Ingraham radio show.

On Saturday at an engagement in Manchester, Bachmann said of New Hampshire, "You're the state where the shot was heard around the world at Lexington and Concord."

The battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775 were fought in Massachusetts, not New Hampshire.

In Tuesday's radio interview, Bachmann accepted blame for her bungling of a basic historical fact.

"I made a mistake," she said. "I should've said Massachusetts instead of New Hampshire."

The Minnesota Republican was then asked if she was surprised by news reports on the gaffe.

"No, not at all," Bachmann told the interviewer. "We all know that there's a double standard in the media."

Bachmann highlighted moments when President Barack Obama misspoke as a candidate. In one instance, in May 2008, then-Sen. Obama said, "Over the last 15 months, we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been in 57 states? I think one left to go."

Later in the day, Obama told reporters that he misspoke.

Bachmann suggested that helps prove a liberal media bias.

"Of course, that wasn't considered newsworthy," she said of Obama's remarks. "The 3,400 members of the mainstream media are a part of the Obama press contingent."

"So it doesn't matter which conservative is out there, if an error is made, in any way, that is what is stated. They didn't talk about the great crowds, the standing ovations, the wonderful time that we had in New Hampshire. And that is just the way that it goes."

she sounds like palin blaming the media for her stupidity  :D

It would be a valid complaint - if FOX news hadn't been all over obama for an obvious mis-speak - http://greenroom.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/05/15/57-states/

At this point, I do believe bachmann didn't know what state lex was in.  She didn't deny that - she just admitted a mistake.  Not "I know where it is but i was confused".

She admits she didn't know a simple fact.  End of story>  Elect her to fix shit and she'll have advisers to help her with dumb little mistakes that everyone makes.

Blaming the media is victim terriroty - she has to STFU with that - nobody wants a crying victim as president.  We want the female John Wayne in this mtherfcker.    John Wayne didn't file complaints about things, he got shit done, dammit.

I agree with you that she should've just admit her mistake and leave it at that. But, this sentence by you actually supports her statement. If FOX hadn't reported on Obama gaffes, no one would know about it, since the liberal media wouldn't dare criticize him.

You know that the liberal media is as bias as FOX is. I think you and her are in agreement.

Fox is the conservative media.
MSN/CNN are the liberal media.

What else is there to say?  They both appeal to their core audience (dems or repubs).  Neither has the moral high ground.  They both point out stories that make the other side look bad.

FOX "accidentally" uses wrong footage to make their point - as so many of their viewers are visual.

MSNBC is just as pissy and spiteful.  They hate palin, FOX hates obama.  It's taht simple.

Mostly credit cards.   He was always in hock due to spending like crazy and it almost drove his marriage apart.  That is why he begged Ayeres to finish Dreams.  He blew right through the advance and could not pay his bills.

How soon do they forget the various edited pieces by CNN/MSNBC. The race baiting by calling Republicans and the Tea Party racist. The running away with the unsupported claim of spitting on a congressman.  Not reporting on stories that were deemed harmful to the messiah. Yeah, CNN/MSNBC have never taken it a bit further as FOX has. Riiiiiight.

I have a good deal on a bridge in Brooklyn. Any of you clowns interested?

The love affair with Obama by CNN/MSNBC during the 2008 campaign is every bit as bad as anything FOX could have ever done.  So much for objectivity.

CNN's the worst of the bunch now. At least the other two don't really try to hide their obvious slants. CNN tries to market itself as a moderate organization when it's turn towards leftism is clearly noticeable.

At least Bachmann admitted she made a mistake.
