cats (canine tooth?)
« on: March 18, 2011, 06:28:52 PM »
over the past year I have noticed that only one of our cats canine tooth is growing longer it seems.  I saw online that there could be an infection or abscess causing it to grow but the tooth is not discolored and the gums seem OK.  I will be taking her to the vet but wanted to hear others opinions. She doesn't seem to be in any pain.  Hard to say with cats.  They sleep all the damn time.  :D.   It only seemed to be prominent within the past year.

took her to the vet.  She is 7.  They said it is fairly common.  Tooth is good for now but in a few years it will get loose and they will need to pull.  They do not know what causes it.  Sometimes the tooth just gets pushed out and when the tendon cannot stretch anymore the tooth will get loose.  She is in no pain which was my main concern.

I have a friend who has a cat with vampire fangs. Looks weird, but doesn't seem to cause any issues.

Kinda looks like this
