Libya: A War Without Benchmarks
« on: March 21, 2011, 04:23:21 PM »
Obama's being pretty slick about this one, huh?  Just humanitarian mission?  Done.  Oh, kill air defenses?  check.  Now it's regime change?

Repubs are pissed that Obama won't deliver benchmarks.  Obama learned a lesson from Bush, who was widely criticized for moving his benchmarks whenever they weren't met, or just making them extremely blurry.

Obama is going a step further - Zero benchmarks at all.

Why should he establish benchmarks.  All he has to do is wait.  He knows the vast majority of liberal twunts like 240 are mostly focused on what word Palin will misspell on her next "tweet".  Suddenly, Libya will be forgotten...  :D

It's not helping him. He's taking flack from all sides and it only furthers the belief that he's indecisive and naive. The American public doesn't want another war and all this is doing is laying out the groundwork for an indefinite stay there.

Keep kneepadding, Mr. "libertarian".

Gaddafi regime fed names of jihadists to the CIA and to Britain
The Australian ^ | March 22, 2011 | Alexi Mostrous

COLONEL Muammar Gaddafi's regime secretly provided information to Britain and the US on Islamic extremists in the east of Libya, according to leaked diplomatic cables and intelligence sources. The names of hundreds of suspects were passed to the CIA and British intelligence.

“There was a strong, shared concern between Gaddafi and the US and UK Governments about radical Sunni jihadist terrorists, including the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG),” Paul Pillar, a CIA veteran who negotiated with Libya over its nuclear program, told The Times.

Diplomatic cables obtained by WikiLeaks paint eastern Libya as a fertile ground for radical extremism. One source told US officials in 2008 that for young men from Derna, a city east of Benghazi, “resistance against coalition forces in Iraq was an important act of 'jihad' and a last act of defiance against the Gaddafi regime”.

“Gaddafi conflated the LIFG with al-Qa'ida and that obviously caught the attention of the Americans and the British who, post-9/11, were hungry for terrorism intelligence,” he said. “There wasn't a lot of reporting sources and Gaddafi was providing it - but his motivation was to protect himself.”

Qaddafi, while a douche bag, has shaped up in recent years. He was even helping the US and western countries out trying to win favor back. Now Obama, just like he did with Mubarak, threw him to the wolves and is now cozying up to jihadists....again.

Would love to hear one of his sheeple rationalize that.
