Get on the Record now. Should the US intervene in Syria?
« on: March 24, 2011, 08:30:17 PM »
A hundred protesters mowed down so far.  How many of them get wasted before you'd support US intervention there?

enough with the interventions.  Let the people who live there do something about it.

They can mow them all down, I don't give a fuck.  The US can intervene save their asses and 10 minutes later they will be chanting death to America

Exactly.  The only way to win is for us to not be involved.

The only good muslim is a dead muslim in Syria. Let the cowardly filth in the arab league intervene for these animals. The only intervention that I supported wholeheartedly was Iran. Toppling that regime would have saved the world, done wonders for US interests and totally shifted the dynamic in the middle east. Unfortunately it appears that the ship has sailed. Therefore, I say we let them kill each other and if it becomes apparent that the new or existing leadership becomes a threat, we should do some black op renditions and stick one of our guys in there to run things.

Iran is the root cause of every single mishap occurring in the middle east right now. Remember that. If we had acted in 2009, the whole world would be safer and our influence in the middle east would be thriving. Instead Iran is pulling the strings and we look like amateurish, cowardly incompetents.

Amazing huh?  Bam bam didn't do squat in 2009 when it could have meant something.

in Libya... obama might be taking just such an approach.

He's killing the supply lines for the state army, but not arming the rebels.
The groups are effectively killing each other in urban warfare with neither having any real advantage.  The state armies are trapped between rebel front and those in the city, and will be exterminated when they run out of ammo in 1 to 2 weeks.  Lots of rebels will be killed in the process.  State army can't retreat without getting hit from the air.

In two weeks, both sides will be depleted and wounded... kadaffi will have fled or will be hanging from a lamp post, and whoever is left to take over will be at the mercy of US demands that Hilary gave them in that meeting the night before the cease fire.

Dude, you have no understanding of the Arab culture, do you really think they are going to be at the mercy of the US? Give me a fucking break all we will have is another headless state that falls into chaos. 10 years down the road another "kinetic" military action will be needed. I fucking give up, you want to believe fairy tales of a democratic middle east feel free.

i'll say it before and i'll say it again; you are very clearly a left-leaning individual posing as a libertarian.

OP: no intervention until they threaten israel.  if the situation gets too explosive that might be considered enough of a threat to start lobbing T-HAWKS.  if it spills over the borders, smash the shit out of them.  IMO we have more reason to go to syria than libya.

Of course not. But Obama's still a hypocrite.

Zionist Illuminati NWO stuff there! Syria's interesting, to be honest. The protesters have been screaming "We won't die for Iran/Hezbollah" and seem to be taking on a very anti-Tehran stance. Given that Syria is Iran's biggest ally in the region, knocking them offline would certainly knock Iran down a few pegs.

If only Obama had the balls to support the Iranians in 2009 like you said.
