CAIRO — In post-revolutionary Egypt, where hope and confusion collide in the daily struggle to build a new nation, religion has emerged as a powerful political force, following an uprising that was based on secular ideals. The Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group once banned by the state, is at the forefront, transformed into a tacit partner with the military government that many fear will thwart fundamental changes.

It is also clear that the young, educated secular activists who initially propelled the nonideological revolution are no longer the driving political force — at least not at the moment.

“We are all worried,” said Amr Koura, 55, a television producer, reflecting the opinions of the secular minority. “The young people have no control of the revolution anymore. It was evident in the last few weeks when you saw a lot of bearded people taking charge. The youth are gone.”

But in these early stages, there is growing evidence of the Brotherhood’s rise and the overpowering force of Islam.

It would be funny if it wasn't so sad and pathetic. I mean no one knew the Brotherhood was capable, right? Have fun Egypt.

Is anyone outside of those on the left really surprised? The true experts (guys like Ferguson) called this before Mubarak even left. The secularists and liberals, just like in Iran, have been tossed to the side by the Islamists.

Good work, lefties!  ::)

Tell me what democracy looks like?

Giving women "virginity tests" is what democracy looks like!!!

And, what a shock, the bra-burning banshee feminists have been (to this point) mush-mouthed on this, unless some official statement is out there that I missed.

Guys-- I have said this for a long time. Liberalism is not a political ideology. Liberalism is a con job. If you bare in mind that every single thing liberals support is inherently bad, corrupt, designed to harm America or is an elaborate ploy to steal money from the successful-- it becomes very easy to grasp and understand the predictable, intellectually bankrupt and ammoral aims of the left and the narrative by which they intend to implement their nightmarish worldview on the rest of us.

The middle east is no different.

You think the low life pieces of excrement on the left give a shit about women being sexually assaulted, terrorists taking over yet another country in the middle east and the world becoming a much more dangerous place? Of course not. As long as the United States can pat itself on the back for encouraging social justice (or whatever perverse definition of social justice that shit bag liberals concoct in their twisted minds) and change ( even if it is for the worst) then all is well in the universe.
