It's good thing there are endurance sports like pro boxing so little men like Tyson can hang out with the big boys and even be the superheavyweight champion.  ::)

Back in his day he was one of the bigger boys, a lot of the top heavys of the 80s were about 210. Made for more exciting fights as the 250 guys today well they have nt got it to throw 6 punch combos like heavys did then,

As long as he didn't have to face a wrestler, BJJ fighter or a thai boxer, yes.. he was quite the force.

It sure took him awhile to take him to the ground...why did he start off trying to box him? That was dumb...and it ended like we knew it would...

Steve Jennum was not a good fighter, i honestly believe that Tyson would have confidently handled him. Its ridiculous to think that a man of Tyson's strength and speed could not hold Jennum off and catch him before being taken down, i cant see it happening. And besides, Melton Bowen was an OK boxer with a decent enough record but was by no means a top notch boxer.

jennum= very lucky

fought a shitty fight against a shitty fighter (harold howard) then gets a tomato can in his first round match at ufc IV and didn't continue in the tournament

I don't remember if he ever fought Ruas at IVC or pulled out.  I won't google it cuz all my MMA knowledge comes from my mind- I refuse to be a google warrior like the whole lot of you

I dont think he won another fight TBH, one of the "greats" that failed to rise to prominence - afterall he was a UFC tournament champion  ::)

The quality of that tournament was so poor that any number of LW's - MW's today would have steamrolled it.

Tyson is overrated.  His biggest win is Michael Spinks.

He was destroyed by Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield, and Lennox Lewis with ease.

Never had the power of a Trinidad / Hatton / Mosley but by god does the man have everything else. Also props for breaking Paul Wight's nose with a cheeky little combo, but there will always be questions about him since there are several superfights he avoided during his career for one reason or another.

BTW Tyson's biggest win may have been against Spinks but thats the best that was on offer when he was at his peak. By the time Douglas fought him he was a completely different animal, anyone that knows Tyson knows this to be true. At his absolute best i have never seen another man that could match him in a boxing match.

I have never seen anybody do situps like that :D
BTW what combo was that I need to see that.

I could never box - I have been in a healty number of fights and I think I couldn;t get used to the pain of being hit, maybe its not the same.

yes, and tyson would probably suck at basketball too.

saying an awesome boxer would suck at mma because boxing is a part of mma is saying an awesome boxer would suck at basketball because they both involve being on your feet.   ::)

he was the best in the world for a long time at what he did, period.

This statement about Tyson show that you are very ignorant about boxing!
At the time he fought Douglas,Holyfield and in particular Lewis, Tyson was done.
Tyson was never the same fighter after left his old trainer (Rooney) and signed with Don King.He became lazy one punch fighter, did not trow so many combos like before and did not move his head like before.Yes he still had power but was lacking all the other quality that made him so deadly back in the 80!

So 2 years after he beat Spinks he was a completely different fighter when he fought Douglas.  Sounds like a lame excuse.  Tyson was strong in a weak decade of heavyweight fighters.  He couldn't survive in the best modern era of heavyweight boxing (the 90's).
