Obama's dismal approval numbers

"Obama’s Dismal Approval Numbers

Rasmussen Reports
April 11, 2011

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 19% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Thirty-nine percent (39%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20 (see trends).

Today’s numbers reflect the lowest level of Strong Approval yet recorded for this president. There has been a sharp decline in enthusiasm among liberal voters.

Currently, just 37% of liberals Strongly Approve of the president’s performance. That’s down from 63% a year ago, 57% at the beginning of 2011, and 52% a week ago. Some liberal commentators have expressed disappointment with the president over the extension of the Bush tax cuts, the military action in Libya, and, most recently, the budget deal to avert a partial shutdown of the federal government. While liberal enthusiasm may be declining, 57% of voters believe the president is more liberal than they are."

Worst president in history.

Confirmed: Obama in real trouble in Florida
Hotair ^ | April11,2011 | Edward Morrissey

Last week, a Quinnipiac poll showed Barack Obama’s job approval rating in the Sunshine State at 42%, with 52% disapproving. A new Mason-Dixon poll shows that the Q-poll was no outlier. The survey conducted for the St. Petersburg Times gives Obama a 43/56 approval rating, with a surprisingly bad result among independents:

President Barack Obama is in trouble in Florida as he begins his re-election campaign.

A new Sachs/Mason-Dixon poll found that only 34 percent of independent voters in Florida — always the key to winning — approve of Obama’s performance, and that either former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney or former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee would beat the president in Florida if the election were held today.

“If one of the top-tier Republicans gets the nomination, it will be a real fight for Florida,” said Mason-Dixon pollster Brad Coker.

This poll also shows that two Republicans presumed or potentially running for the nomination clearly top the incumbent in Florida. Romney beats him by five, as does Huckabee, but neither get to 50%. Sarah Palin trails Obama by twelve points, 39/51, and Donald Trump trails by eight. There are probably enough retirees from New York City in Florida who have seen enough Donald Trump in their lifetimes.

At the moment, Huckabee is the leader among GOP voters for the nomination, but not by much. He gets 23%, five points ahead of Romney, ten points ahead of Trump, and 15 points ahead of Tim Pawlenty. Palin’s standing in the polls has dropped precipitously; she now gets only 5% of Florida primary voters for the nomination, and given the key position of Florida in the nomination process, this is bad news if Palin decides to run.

historically - is the incumbent's disappeoval numbers worse "right before" the opposition candidates announce?

Like, i have to think that 42% approval rating in FL would be a mite bit higher if Palin and Trump were battling it out for who gets to take over running the nation lol.....  it's easy to hate obama when the alternative is unknown.  When the alternative is "armageddon scary", well, obama don't look so shitty after all...

mods, can we have a sub-board called 'personal attacks'... every time a point is met with "you are a kneepadding blah blah blah" instead of an actual response, it is moved there?

You think his poll numbers are bad because of that? Obama is failing daily..maybe hourly. I think you can jump off the bandwagon now...it sank.

Bring something worthwhile to the discussion instead of your fabricated pro-Obama propaganda and maybe you won't be met with "personal attacks".  ;)

i did actually :)

I bet bush's approval numbers were very low - then saw a nice bump - when libs like hilary and obama announced they'd run.  Repubs said "you know, I can't stand bush much, but I'm sure as *&*$# not voting for these 2 clowns".

I'm sure the same thing will happen with obama.  What do you think, bz?

I don't think the numbers mean dick beyond showing where the independents are leaning. What matters is that Obama is bleeding independents and other center-leaning moderates (as evidenced by his collapsing poll numbers). And those are the people who decide elections.

You don't think there Americans who would disapprove of a candidate, then quickly decide he's not so bad - once they see the polarizing/unqualified socialist the other party offers?

I think there are plenty of voters who are disgusted with Obama - but will hold their noses and vote for him if the repubs run a snake oil salesman like Trump or moron like palin.

I think it says a lot when Obama is losing to an unnamed candidate. Really shows how terrible of a job the guy is doing. If he were in a good shape to be reelected then he would be killing the unnamed candidate and not losing to them.

Until I see numbers showing how other independents receive Trump or Palin then I'm not going to claim anything about voters holding their nose. If they're like me, they just won't vote. And as there are more conservatives than liberals in this country, Obama will still be in trouble. But your hard-on for those two is astounding. You should give the creepy Palin infatuation a rest until she announces she's running.

But I think it's pretty funny that a TV personality gets this much attention from you leftist dems. Methinks you Dems will focus your rage on her so blindly that you'll end up missing the real GOP nom come in and sweep the election right out from under Obama's feet.

I don't give a fuck about the Nevada senate race. Come back to me when Nevada = the rest of the country and Sharon Angle is running for president. This is about OBAMA.

I think that actually makes my point lol...

'unknown candidates' are NOT polarizing.  Nobody holds their nose to vote for them.  They always rank higher than specific candidates.  "unknown" isn't a birther, isn't a grifter, isn't a serial cheater, etc.

I don't think it makes your point at all. He's losing to a shadow. A nobody. A figment of the imagination. If that doesn't say the country thinks he's doing a shit job then I don't know what does. Then again, I also find it shocking that you manage to read the responses to this thread on your monitor with Obama's splooge in your eyes so what do I know.

I agree.  He's in serious trouble.  He didn't get a war bump.  The stimulus failed.  Obamacare is on life support.  He has flipped on a number of issues.  No surprise that his poll numbers look so bad.

Yup. If Gadhafi stays in power or troops end up on the ground there and gas hits $5/gal then he's going to be in a massive world of hurt.

He's bleeding independents and other center-leaning moderates. That's all that matters. They are the people that decide elections, not the people who vote along party lines every single time.

Intrade still has obama at 62% chance of win in 2012.

36% chance of a Repub winning.

The world's foremost gambilng/oddsmakers.  Nearly 2-to-1 saying obama wins.

I think everyone with a brain already knows.... obama wins.  he's a commie, lib, spending like a drunk sailor, nobody disputes this.  But he's probably gonna win in 2012.

quote where i said "no" influence?

I admitted i was wrong about crist.  Are you one of those dicks who reminds someone of their faulty predictions 10 times after they admit they were wrong?  Cause youve made a lot more predictions than me... how's that "obamacare if dead" thread going?  lol
