Goudy, if I remember right you did 365x3. Your 1RM calculates out to 397.85 give or take.

355x5 calculates to 408.5 for a 1RM. Keep your reps low No more than 3, rest 2-3min between sets working to a single.

::) biggest lie in this thread bruce most honest

whatever dude, I did it when I was 18.  Gus Rethwisch was there and can verify that I benched 535 raw at 181.  It was so clean everyone thought I could have gotten a second rep easy.  Ask Gus.

only in theory. Everybody is different some are good at high reps and some are good at low reps. I guess that would be the average

I agree, it depends on how you train. Most 1RM are used in PL or training athletes to set up the program if the coach uses percentages. I use percentages in the majority of my programs. In bodybuilding, obviously there is no need to use percentages.

I think he should re-think it. It's totally possible :P

Thanks, I'll tell that to athletes who are breaking PR's every week with 3 min rests depending on group size. We're going up at 10% each week on main indicator lifts. So when my 190lbs RB who set another PR tonight of 305lbs in the bench snaps a labrum because of a 5 or more mins.

Tell that to George Halbert, Doug Heath, and JM Blakely. I've seen all of them dudes train in person, and they ALL rest a long time btw max attempts (at least 5 min). FYI, George Halbert is probably the best 198/220 bench presser EVER

I don't train PL's, I train athletes. When I train myself on Max effort days, my rest time is 3min 4 max. Regardless, we still have PR's set every week.

When you really max, the last attempt before max should be a single at around 80 %, no more, and with a good rest and mental preperation before max, 10 or 15 minutes if needed.

Its not a westside template but yes, I do believe its a great template and you can't argue with the results of their powerlifters and before you go and say its all drugs, I don't care how much shit you take, you ain't going to get a 1000lb squat or an 700 bench without a system.
