I'd say that it's either The Beatles or Led Zep

Been around the music industry along time and without a doubt the Beatles.
Not enough credit is given to their producer though who was truly the 5th member.
The things they did production wise with only a four track recorder is AMAZING!

Which album do you think brought them "into their own" so to speak? I'd say that it was Rubber Soul, although many say that it was Sgt. Peppers.

Elvis probably to start with, but in terms of bands theres no doubting The Beatles.Like someone said, the things they produced with what little technology they had then is astounding.Doesnt matter wether people like the music or not.Theyve influenced almost everyone who picked up a guitar

The biggest two musical acts of the year are Justin Bieber and Rebecca Black.

Michael Jackson is probably the closest big-name musician.  So we can blame him.

The Beatles. Not a massive fan, but pop music wouldn't be the same without their influence, especially in terms of song writing.

Fuck the Beatles and their boy band garbage.

The Rolling Stones made real music.

Elvis, Led Zep, Stones et al were just white man packaging for all the awesome blues guys that went before, who are the real influences. They actively plagiarised them at times, which I'm not ripping on them for, but if we're talking abhout "influence"...

The Beatles started ripping off 12 bar blues but became more progressive and actually experimented with making a new sound, which in my book makes them more of a proper influence on today's music, rather than a rehash of Muddy Waters et al like Zeppelin, Stones.

Stevie Wonder deserves a mention since much of today's RnB borrows from him, and Michael Jackson used to sit in on his sessions sometimes. You can hear on tracks like master blaster near the end his vocal delivery is pure michael jackson, he was an idol of Jackson's. That track is an hommage to Bob Marley in turn, who didn't invent reggae so much as popularise it, so where do you start?!?!?!

which band?

i'd say the leather band, aka the whip.

The whip caused negro spirituals, which later on would influence bluesmen like Robert Johnson, who would influence just about all music we came to know as rock and roll (that includes the beatles and Elvis, who as great as he was, made his career off ripping off black folk)
