RB Mendenhall Causes Stir With Bin Laden Tweets
 Source: AP

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Rashard Mendenhall has created a stir with comments made on his official Twitter page regarding Osama bin Laden's death.

The Pittsburgh Steelers running back on Monday tweeted: "What kind of person celebrates death? It's amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We've only heard one side..."

Mendenhall didn't hold back, even making a reference to the Sept. 11 attacks.

"We'll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style."

That's what he gets for talking like a fool.

Champion won't pay out Rashard Mendenhall's contract
By Michael McCarthy, USA TODAY

The news keeps getting worse for Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall. Corporate sponsor Champion said Thursday it was firing him for his controversial tweets objecting to Americans celebrating the death of Osama bin Laden. Now, Champion says its refusing to pay out the balance of Mendenhall's endorsement contract that runs through 2015.

Champion will only pay Mendenhall through the "termination" of his contract which it's dating as May 13, 2011, spokesman Matt Hall said Friday.

That means the 23-year old Mendenhall will miss out on four years of paydays for "marketing services." The former 1st round draft pick out of the University of Illinois recently signed a 4-year extension of his initial 3-year deal with Champion.

"We intend to pay Rashard through the termination of the contract, which we have dated as effective next Friday," Hall said.

Champion declined to comment on the legal grounds its using to escape its long-term endorsement deal with Mendenhall. But Hall says "the termination is allowed by and consistent with the language contained in the contract."

The Steelers did not return a phone call Friday seeking a comment on Mendenhall. But the AFC champions put out a statement Tuesday distancing themselves from their young star.

David Schwab of Octagon First Call thinks Champion's North Carolina-based parent company Hanesbrands will be reluctant to sign another athletic endorser.

"I bet they sit out for a bit. They are a more leisure/non-celebrity type brand," he says.

He's right.  Anyone that has read George Orwell's 1984 can see the striking parallels as war and death is applauded in our society.

I don't see a problem with what he said...The TRUTH is not to be hidden or ashamed of.

OH an BTW...What ever happened to the right of free speech? I see some of you assholes who complain continuously about ones rights being taken away are glorifying in someone else's rights being infringed on. Explain that?

You are so full of crap.  Just a few examples.  You claimed you didn't get paid, and HH6 outed your lying butt:

Quote
Well, because the gov't couldn't contain their greed to continue spending and almost shut down the government, many military families only got paid half of their paycheck today.  I feel sorry to the private that has two kids and lives paycheck to paycheck.  Thanks Obama, for not pushing congress to pass a budget.

Quote
We got a full paycheck. I got paid half yesterday and the rest today about 10AM. I'm not sure what your talking about. They told us our checks would be split and we'd get paid the full amount in two direct deposits..shockingly thats what happened.

You then asked HH6 this question:

Quote
HH6, are you a HHC commander?

Anyone serving in the military wouldn't ask a question like that.

You also made this claim about 25th ID:

Quote
25th ID is not a support unit, it is made up of Brigade Combat Teams.

This is laugh out loud funny.   :)  I would advise you to quit while you are behind before you really embarrass yourself.

So I'll ask again, what branch are you in and where are you stationed?

Wow I must have really pushed your buttons for you to do all this research into my posts.

Headhunter is just a popular callsign in the army for a headquarters and headquarters company, the six on the end means the unit commander.  Therefore, I asked if he is or was ever a HHC commander.  Are you an expert on what kind of questions military people ask eachother now?  Since you have extensive military experience and all.

25th ID is made up of BCT's, not sure why that is laugh out loud funny.  It is a combat unit.

I did end up getting paid, my check was delayed for a few more days than some other people but it was split in half.

Sorry I don't have as much time on my hands as you to give timely responses.  I told you my branch and unit in another post so you can search for it since you are so obsessed about it.

So you decided not to take my advice?   :)  Can you link me to this popular call sign for Headhunter 6 as the HHC commander?

Regarding the 25th ID, you are, as I said, full of crap.  The Army is composed of divisions.  The 25th ID is a division.  Each division is composed of brigades.  Each brigade is composed of battalions.  Each battalion is composed of companies.  Each company is broken down into platoons.  Within each platoon, are squads.  Within each squad is a team.  The team is the smallest element, made up of about 5 or 6 Soldiers, depending on the size of the squad.

So, when you said the 25th ID is made up "Brigade Combat Teams," you very clearly didn't what the heck you were talking about.

Also, most if not all divisions have support elements, including the 25th.  Combat arms elements cannot operate without support elements.  The 25th even has a band.

Now, you lying liar, what branch of the military are you in where are you stationed?  Also, what's your rank?

Ok, you are really starting to show your ass on this thread.

WTF are you talking about?  Everyone knows the breakdown of company/platoon, etc.  Do you even know what a Brigade Combat Team is?  Force 21?  New modular army after 9/11?  A BCT is a brigade and still has battalions/ companies/platoons.  25th ID has 4 BCTs, stryker/infantry, airborne.  25th Infantry division is a division with a combat mission.  Every unit down to even company level has support soldiers that accompany it.  Every battalion int he army has an HHC where the cooks, mechanics, admin, staff are contained to support the combat arms companies.  If you are going to say the 25th ID is not a combat unit because they have support Soldiers then you might as well say the 1st Ranger battalion is not a combat unit because they have cooks, mechanics, etc that deploy with them.

A combat support unit would be like 89th MP brigade, 13th COSCOM, etc.

In many units in the Army company callsigns coincide with the letter company they are.  For example Alpha Company "Assasins" Bravo "Bulldogs" HHC "Headhunters"

Look up army callsigns.  Six is always the command element, five is the Executive Officer, 3 is the Operations officer, on down the line.

As I told you before in a previous post awhile back that you failed to find, I served for 4 years with 4th ID out of FT Hood/Carson.  I am not telling you where and what I am doing now because you are so obsessed with my military service you would probably try to track me down.  What would be the point of telling you anyway?  You and your neo-con lackeys on here would still accuse me of being a liar regardless of what I say, otherwise your credibility on this board would be destroyed.  So stop with the personal attack and name calling and just accept the fact that you are constantly willing to send others to war to fight on your behalf as long as you yourself don't have to fight.
