 I found that the Muslems were cold and distant. Often acted with a holier than thou attitude. They seemed like they just didn't want to associate with me.

 But the  non-Muslem Malays, Indonesians, Indians and Chinese people were awesome there. I met a lot of cool Chinese and Indian people there.

Islam can not be held accountable for the actions of these types of people.  Islam clearly prohibits all kinds and forms of aggression and violence against anyone, except in self-defense.
That is crystal clear to anyone who has read the Quran in context. There are deviant people in all faiths who act with their own agenda and claim to be doing so in the name of their religion.

Been to both also... Great places and Bali in particular is a paradise. With the exception of the bombing but they took the guys out with a firing squad.
