had my Xbox on top of my new Dish Network HD-dvr and last night i turned the xbox 360 on and got the Red Ring of Death.... I did the towel trick where you wrap it with a few towels turn it on and let is bake .. took the red ring away played for about 20min then it froze up again..... Anyone ever had this problem? worth taking it to fix or just shell out the $300 and get a new one?  |

There's a million deals on www.slickdeals.net that will get it for you at a good price, or at least with a 50-100 dollar gift card. The slim won't RRoD, and is absolutely silent. |

If you're out of pocket, upgrade to the slim. There's a million deals on www.slickdeals.net that will get it for you at a good price, or at least with a 50-100 dollar gift card. The slim won't RRoD, and is absolutely silent. Sounds like its time for an upgrade then.. thanks... I have ps3 and wii... but the gaming on the xbox for me is just better as well as the feel of the controller over the ps3 |

I have those two systems as well, and agree with you on the other points. I won't elaborate, because if I do, a certain PS3 fanboy will start posting a whole bunch of nonsense and it will blow up like the Crysis 2 thread. |

What happened that caused that!
I placed the xbox above my Cable box which is a DVR so it stays on.. i guess the heat from the Cable box over heated the xbox... I did the towel trick , and so far its running fine... but they do say it only last 4-6 days before the Red death comes back... the best fix is opening the 360 and cleaning the cpu and heat sinks. Ill try that next if i get the Red Ring again. But the new SLIM wont get the death ring... its engineered to not over heat so your fine bro |

well actually rapid repair is a site you send your x box too get repaired I think I paid 100.00 bucks but it was cheaper then buying a new x box |

If it's out of warranty then you can open it up and remove the xclamps from the bottom of the motherboard and replace the screws with some of your own, you can buy these screw kits on eBay.The xclamps caused the motherboard to pull away from the gpu, which is whyyou get that error

I still play Grand Theft auto, red dead redemption, Always up for some Left for dead 2, The Godfather, And Mafia 2, waiting on the la noir to come out next month , For the ps3 - don't have many games on that, only Golden Ax, Conan, and Wrestlemania |

They seem pretty sweet, although I haven't thoroughly been through them yet.
