I've met lots and lots and lots of people who are very smart and hard working, but they are poor for various reasons.

Being hard working and smart doesn't always pay off.

You're an idiot.

The people who work hard and don't see a pay off are not very smart.   i.e. illegals who work their ass off for a few bucks an hour
You have to work hard with a purpose and for a reason to see a pay off...people who do not do those things aren't smart.

Almost 2% of the people in prison.

 Another 4% homeless.

 Another 20-30% living in poverty.

Insane inequalities and corruption. A government that cares only about it's own power and control.

 No problemo right?
Good post.

the net was the best thing that ever happened to the us gov, it gives people a place to vent a place to blog, youtube and facebook their anger, I do not see any civil unrest in the USA.

people also have to learn they must make changes themselves, if goldman goes to jail or all politicians get replaced tomorrow, their life wont change, its the lazy mans excuse.

the attitude of the "gov will take care of me" or "something must change", is the wrong attitude.

what I do see as a very dangerous trend is that more and more people are living with 0 savings, in other words they are 1 paycheck away from being homeless, this is def the case in LA and NYC for so many, but how can ya blame them, the cost of living there is high.

I think people need to be open minded to maybe relocate if they can to a city or place where their cost of living will be lower and thus allowing them to build up a savings, obviously not everyone can do this but at least be open to it.

I have to laugh when people ask why there's no revolt in the U.S.

Maybe because this is what it's like to be "Poverty Stricken" in America (According to the U.S Census):

•76 percent have air conditioning.
•66 percent have more than two rooms of living space per person.
•97 percent own at least one color television.
•62 percent have either cable or satellite television.
•Almost 75 percent of households own a car (30 percent own two or more).
•73 percent own microwave ovens.
•More than 50 percent have stereos.
•33 percent have automatic dishwashers.
•99 percent have refrigerators.
•Virtually none lack running water or flushing toilets.
•46 percent own their own home, the average of which is a three bedroom house with 1.5 baths, that has a carport and porch or patio, and the average value of which is 70 percent of the median American home.

These conditions would be considered "Living like a King" to most people in the world.

It's not just about "having more".

 It's about having justice.

Not all of us are driven by greed and personal gains. Crazy ain't it?

Some of us actually care about the Earth's environment and some of us actually care about less fortunate people whoare suffering badly.

Do you know what it's like to not be selfish? Give it a try sometime. It's not that bad.

Yeah. It's interesting how so many Americans are in denial about the USA's problems.

It's like they think it's a sin to admit anything wrong with the USA. Dumb blind patriotism to the extreme.

Sell it to someone else. You're driven by arguing on the internet as evidenced by your post count. If you really cared you'd be out doing something.

 Doing something like what?

Maybe the best thing to do is to go online and share my philosophy with people.

Activism is usually very, very inneffective. The most effective thing is to just share info and turn people on to new ideas and possibilites. The internet is the best way to do that.

I work full time in some Asian city where most people don't speak any English. What would you suggest I go do exactly? There ain't much for me to do in this location. But every day i'm mindful to do good deeds when I can.

Being hard working and smart doesn't always pay off. Especially if you're born into a really poor family.

Do you have any idea what it's like to grow up in a really poor family and have to earn every dime for yourself from the time you're a teenager? I doubt it.

What I see as an issue with any country, is delusional morons like yourself; morons that have this self serving mentality that the world owes them something and everyone else is to blame except the goob staring back at them in the mirror!  And on top, if these type tools are born into money and receive a diploma (notice I didn't say education), then laws and corruption are even worst because the self serving tools only make decisions what is best for them!

I don't understand the attacks on Wall street. The stock market are the major businesses in this country.  Think of any major company from cars, pharmaceuticals , computers, planes, fuel, and so on are traded on Wall Street.

If you wish Wall street to fail you want major employers to fail.  Most retirement accounts have a major portion of their investments in wall street stocks.  Yes CEO's make major money. It's their buisness. Not the governments or the people. Do we really want to regulate what CEO's and doctors make?

Blast away guys how the wealth should be spread around.  50% of adults in the USA already don't pay taxes.  It only a matter of time before the workers can't take care of the users in this country.
