Thinking about packing it all in. Selling everything I own and hitting the road for a few years.  Im so tired of the hustle.  I need some me time.  And if there is any truth to Hawkins ideas of the after life or  lack there of.  This is as good as it gets. Why shouldn't I enjoy my life to the fullest.  I'm 35 years old.  I got many years to worry about getting old and  making roots.     I'm better I could fund a few trips around the world if I just get rid of all the materialistic bullshit Ive been accumulating over the years.    Anyone one else feel this way.

Travel and wandering is highly overrated.

It almost certainly will not make you happier.

I can guarantee you this.
I hate the State.

Do it. I got my passports last year. They are good for 10 years. Got some $$$$$. Just go, it'll be the best thing you ever did.

Going alone? Got family to visit across country or overseas? Friends? Places to stay?

No regrets. You will look back as an old man and remember the trip as one of the smartest and most enjoyable/fulfilling things you ever did.

Don't dream too long otherwise that is exactly what it will become.

because you ll still be who you are (with your genetical pre-programmations), you ll still be the son of your parents, you ll still need to find a job, to eat, to find a female partner to reproduce with otherwise you ll have the feeling to be empty and useless, and you still wont be able to do what you currently cannot do -and never could do-.

You re just like everyone else, deal with it.

You have been generated by what surrounds you, to give it something back in return, and this is what will give you the feeling to exist and to be happy. That's your only freedom.
wow  your so depressing

Im thinking about.  buying a rv and traveling around north America and meeting all the getbiggers
Ok, here is the deal:

Unless you "off yourself" ( not a good idea!), you'll be around another 40 yrs or so.
The RV thing will get old and you will be back to square one.
You need $$ from a  stable paycheck doing something that doesn't make you want to go crazy.
My serious advice:
1. get rid of an extra bullshit crap you don't need.
2. NOW, figure out what career , job or whatever you would LOVE to do for a possible career.
IT doesn't have to be anything great, just what makes you happy.
3. MOVE, go back to school, or whatever else to try and make THAT happen.
In a few years you could be doing what you enjoy and have decent little lifestyle carved out.

That sounds really cool, I'd love to do something like that one day, in fact when I hit 35 I probably will

right now at 31 I just bought a house with the (new) wife a year ago, few vehicles, motorcycle, 3 rooms of audiophile gear, 20 guitars, 2 rooms of guitar gear and a room full of guns, lol.. not to mention 2 cats so I'm staying put for a while

Back in 2004 I sold and got rid of almost all my shit.

Then I hit the road. Moved from city to city. Lived in 6 different places in the US in a short time.

Then moved overseas. Trying to keep my mobility and freedom.

Most Americans trade their freedom to live some bullshit material dream. It's not worth it.

I am 35 as well. I am fortunate enough to be able to retire comfortably in 12 more years. Then, we are selling the house, buying a beach house and traveling year around. I just hope to make it until 47, if not....so be it. I am still having a good time, just not as freely nor as often as I would like too.

I read a story of a guy doing that, only that he bought a Lamborghini Gallardo and traveled state to state for the best times of his life.  You might enjoy this:

I've done a few trips that have lasted a month or so, traveling by motorcycle. Every time I come back feeling like a new man. My best trip was I found a new bike on ebay from Alaska. So I flew there and rode the bike all the way back to NYC. Took my time and it lasted a month. Carried all my gear on my bike and slept in a tent almost every night. Completely changed my life after that.

I recommend watching 'the long way round' with Ewin Mcgregor. He'll tell you how it changed his life. Very inspiring

I'm gonna work for a few more month and then buy a one-way ticket to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Then slowly travel west towards India.

Probably speand about 3 months travelling.

 I can't wait  ;D

I pity people who never do that kind of thing and just work their lives away, domesticated, selling out just to make money.

Really? it's not worth having something you can always go to and just relax? having your stuff and favorite things there?  I'm not even talking about a home but even a cottage or summer home or small cabin somewhere you know it's always yours and you can always go back there and just be somewhere
