Tell me about it.  At least explain what it's about.

Tell me about it.  At least explain what it's about.

Summed up, it is about the fact that coupled with inflationary trends across the board, university tuition makes for one of the most expensive things around; more importantly, it highlights the very real fact that education is simply not what it used to be in terms of value; People go into debt for tens of thousands of dollars with little or nothing to show for it and in today's depressed economy cannot find a job. The conclusion is basically that college education is a rip off.

That is a neat summary.
I hate the State.

Thanks.

Well, these days, I think that conclusion is pretty valid.

I think it's wrong.  A college education is worth quite a bit.  And not just in terms of money.

A college graduate has greater earning potential than a high school graduate.  There is also the benefit of expanding your world view and becoming a smarter, more well rounded person.  The whole college experience is a great part of growing up.

A college graduate has more career options too.

college is awesome.

at the same time, it is a business, it costs way more than the actual value of the parts that combine to form it... and they don't give a crap about you, aside from their ability to get your stafford loan $ piped directly each semester.

I went to college a lot and I recommend it for most people.  Just know that they're not in business to enrich you - that's your job.  Their job is to expose you to a wide variety of material and charge you out the ass for it, and give you a piece of paper that will open doors and help you to recognize opportunities.

Of course. It is the story of my life.

You really are obsessed with me, I can tell.

Would you like me to be obsessed with you as well?

I can do that, you know.

How is pointing out that you're 35-years-old and chasing yet another master's "obsessed"?

I am 33.

In every thread I post in, you have a disparaging comment to make. I call that obsession and I will gladly return the favour since you insist on doing it.  :)

Schiff did a great video on tuition inflation.  I'll try to post it later.

Anything to hasten your coming exit (again) from this board. You're the most predictably whiny baby on here.

I have your whole gimmick down to the "T". It starts with you opening with your usual threads about shitting and other equally idiotic spam.

When those lose their luster you usually post some pics with the accompanied "looking like shit" title. These are good for a few days of sympathy attention. Meanwhile, you rant and rave down here against everything that bothers you (i.e. college because it failed you and religious people because they're better than you).

Eventually that loses it punch (happening faster every time you do it) and then starts the manic depressive shit. The real "woe is me" stuff where you talk about how the negativity of Getbig makes you suicidal and all that jazz. This usually gets you at least a week of sympathy attention as people try to tell you it's OK and that a break could help get your head back on straight.

Finally you end it with a week or two worth of posts about how you have this HUGE assignment due but you can't stay off of here. After a few hundred "atta boy"s and other various posts of encouragement you'll vanish like a fart in the wind, where you'll hide out for long enough to rinse and repeat this exact same thing down the road.

You are a pathetic attention whore.  :)

I think I will stick around just to annoy and make it my goal to follow you on every post you make, until you leave me in peace. So, do you want peace? or the former? Because that is exactly what you do, you follow me around on every post I make and guess what, you are the ONLY getbigger who does it like that.  You are obsessed and I think I should return the favour. Or you can just leave me in peace like most getbiggers do. Which do you prefer?

LOL funny b/c the morning show i listen to was talking about this very topic this morning. I think the current generation me included believes that a college degree is the way to a good job. I got out and had a rude awakening as to most, ok you have a college degree so do millions of other ppl including probably 90% of the ppl that just applied for the same job you did.

Also dont go into 100k in debt for college if you are going to be a school teacher...DOESNT MAKE SENSE!!!!!

there are tons of ways to make college cheaper, community college for the first 2 years, live at home, take more than a full load to finish sooner...

Experience is important as well, most college kids straight out of high school dont work or if they do dont work in the field they want to enter into after graduating.

Dont major in some undesirable field, music, psychology(I have a BS in this ;) lol), kineseology etc...mathematics, accounting, finance, IT, engineering, biology etc...are degrees that are in demand and will always be in demnad...Even if a company is going bankrupt they still need accountants.

If you spend 300k getting a degree to teach pre school then yea its not worth it...LOL

I think the avg diff between yearly earnings for college and non college workers is like 20k a year...

Id say that makes it worth it, again so long as you dont spend 300k getting an education that will only make you 40k a year.
