Who had it from the beginning?..
« on: May 17, 2011, 07:12:47 PM »
Going with the other It Factor and etc. threads, who do you guys think had it right from the start (ie. who did you look at and know he would be at the top of the mountain)

I gotta say personally Warrior and Rude, I had a feeling both would become main eventers in a relatively short time

Why?
It's okay to be a fan of Benoit's past professional work.

I was always amazed it took as long as it did for him to make it in the industry.
I became a fan when he worked with Malenko as part of the Horsemen in WCW.

Eh I think some people are still touchy about how his career/life ended. But I always knew when I saw Benoit it would be a good match, dude gave 110% every time IMO. He was Pegasus Kid or something like that at first right? Under a white mask?

Yeah, he went by Pegasus Kid and Wild Pegasus for a while.
With one of those names, he wore a mask, but I honestly can't remember which one.

I have an old tape with a lot of his matches from Japan; tremendous work rate consistent with what we saw him do over here.
The three other things that I remember most from his Japanese footage are he was very strong, built, and he frequently held a considerable amount of water.
I've always been curious as to what his cycles looked like over the years.

Scott Steiner as soon as he switched to singles, there was only 1 place he was going and that was the top. Kurt Angle, from the moment he debuted, showed he was potentially going to be an all time top 10 IMO & Brock's debut lay the foundation for what he was to become.

I contest Rick Rude because although he was a main eventer in WWE, he was never given the chance to reach the top of the mountain for one reason or another. Same as Hennig, both could have at the very least been transitional champs with the heat they could draw, and as someone else said no1 has ever looked better with the gold than Hennig. Rude's WCW work was very good, his lengthy reign as US champ & subsequent world title reign was probably his professional peak and i dont think anyone would have argued that he deserved them both.

Curt Henning.

Only thing that slowed him down is the fact that he had a bad back.

This is the first time I saw Sid Vicious. I think he was wrestling for about 2 years at the time. There was no doubt in my mind he was gonna be a superstar.

I've read a lot of stuff about the Von Erich family in Flair's book recently, apparently their dad wouldn't let anyone win against them around Texas, crazy what happened to that family.

Flair's retake on a match in texas against Kerry was utterly hillarious, Flair's trying to put on a show and Kerry f*cked out of his mind and coked up is looking for a girl in the audience he was trying to impress/fuck
the whole match, every time Flair is recovering from a sell Kerry's off in the audience trying to find this girl, hahahaha drove Flair crazy, he had to keep going after him to the audience to pull him back.

Who?

that was a joke.  Back in the 80's Jim Cornette put the Mulkey brothers on the map.  They were two very pathetic jobbers, but he would put them over in interviews before the midnight express would destroy them.  He talked about Mulkey-Mania running wild !!

Good list, but not sure about Jericho.  Me and a few friends, OLE BIG included, were very high on him in his early WCW days, but it seemed like nobody else cared.
