Of course. I'm just saying that you can't just write someone off as a permanent mess at her age. As an example, look at Robert Downey Jr, who was a drug addicted mess for years and years. He finally got his life together and now he's at the top of his game.
I'm not making any guarantees, and if she never recovers I won't lose any sleep over her either way.

No, not the same with women.  Too many younger, as pretty, and ready to take her place, and producers are ready to take them.  Lohan or any woman in her situation has nothing to offer.  Why bother?
