I was at Lifetime Fitness yesterday standing near a counter where a 23 yr old male wearing a LTF uniform and name tag was telling a couple how much protein they should be consuming per day. The man looked to be closing in on 55 yrs old, 170 lbs (heard him tell the trainer) and about 5'8". The trainer picked up a calculator and after punching in numbers told the man he needed 300 grams of protein a day..... After they left I asked him how many grams of protein a day he took in and he said around 500 a day.. the trainer wasn't near my size and I am lucky to get 180 a day..

I almost stopped the couple as they left and told them they should research it themselves, then find a new trainer but my yoga class was starting..

NO, he probably took him out for a chai tea latte and a soy burger

After Yoga class, I glared at him from the eliptical. I probably scared him because I had the level at 15.

You really should report him to management.  Clearly doesn't know what he's talking about and even if he did, he's out of his scope of practice.

I was at a Vitamin Shoppe the other day (just browsing, waiting for rush hour traffic to ease up) and some kid came in looking for something to "put on muscle mass"  ::)  He was all of 140# wearing an Affliction shirt.  The sales guy talked him into some mass formula that will add another 5000 calories/day to his diet.  ::)
