Repealing tax cuts or tax breaks to oil companies is off the table.

Now the Republicans are using the tornado as leverage to push their efforts to privitize Medicare?

Rep. Eric Cantor: Spending cuts in exchange for Missouri tornado aid
 Source: The State Column

Virginia U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor said Tuesday that any spending costs associated with federal disaster funding for Joplin, Missouri, tornado victims must be offset with spending cuts.

The Virginia Republican said “if there is support for a supplemental, it would be accompanied by support for having pay-fors to that supplemental.”

The House Republican leader is the first to push for spending cuts related to the disaster that has already claimed over 100 lives. Democrats slammed the Republican leader, saying it amounted to “ransom.”

Rep. Billy Long, who represents the district impacted by the disaster, said Tuesday that he is pushing for federal emergency funding. It remains unclear whether he supports Mr. Cantor’s call for spending cuts.

Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) Held A Job Fair Where Nearly Half The 30 Organizations Received Stimulus Funds; Cantor Also Supported Using Stimulus Funds To Build A Washington To Richmond Rail

Poor example here - Cantor spent the stim $ like a drunken sailor just like everyone else.

works for me

who are the tax cheats that Obame "gave" stim money too?

If it were up to me GS would be out of business so you can stop mentioning that in every post

btw - I thought Congress was in charge of teh money

They are.  Obama only had the stim bill because the senate approved it with 60 votes after it got thru congress.

Stim bill was a BIPARTiSAN effort.  They all got their pork.  Wasn't an "obama bill".  it was a Wash DC bill.

Doesn't change the fact that people don't have baby food or drinking water, and Cantor would rather let them starve than cut oil tax breaks and subsidies.

Anyone think Cantor would be taking this position if it was HIS district with 200 dead and 1/3 of the town destroyed?
