I think in California you can get great sushi, there are a few restaurants run by Japanese that are great.

Then in Germany in Dusseldorf you will find Europe's first Japanese restaurant that has a Michelin star, great sushi there as well.

As funny as it sounds, one problem is that there is NO Japanese rice available outside of Japan. It is forbidden by law to export rice, all "Japanese" rice you can buy outside of Japan is in reality from Korea, California or even Italy.

Same goes for the so called "Kobe" beef, it is not allowed to export Japanese beef, cattle or even their semen, if you want to taste the real deal, it's only possible in Japan.

it was about $12 per plate, and you get from what i remember about 3-4 pieces per plate.

me and my wife to be ate 12 plates.  that shit was delicious.  got shitfaced on sapporro too (sp?), the Old Style of Japanese beers.  great night.

Back when I was in law school and training very hard in a Dorian-like split (best gains I ever made), there was an all you can eat sushi place on City Line Avenue in Philadelphia that was $22.
The owner liked to be called Bob (He was a Japanese drunk, but he had high quality sushi.  Further, he loved pretty ladies and would have people take a polaroid of him with pretty ladies that came in the sushi bar).  I went in there one day immediately after a chest/back workout that I had set a PR on deads at the time (405 x 8, if I recall correctly), drank my CellTech on myh way there, and proceeded to eat for about 2 hours straight.  He never cut me off like some places do, but actually enjoyed watching me eat anything and everything he made (he used to make this awesome sashimi salad with qual eggs on top of it). 
One day he said to me: "You eat like sumo wrestler" in a Japanese accent.  I told him that my brother and his friends would eat me under the table (who were not natural and dwarfed me by anywhere from 20-60 pounds, and were shorter than me by 6 inches or more).  He didn't believe me, so one Thursday night my brother and his friends came to train at the same gym where I trained and we went out for sushi after that.
Bob pulled me aside at the end of the night and was seriously drunk and said:  "Please do not bring them here again.  They make me poor."

Me and Con Demetriou went to one last week on his carb up day and my cheat day, our bill came out to $136. Good food, but that's how much I pay for a weeks worth of chicken and steak. lol
