HI

first of all thanks gh15 for allt he info on inside of bbing, even though I am a recreational bber and far from shape of most bb's here I really appreciate all the info you put in this forum.
my dad was a world champion powerlifter in the 80's in the 125kg class and I recognise many things you refer to from 80's athletes and impressed with how the sprot has changed.

I have a question for you regarding bodybuilders from the 80's and how they dieted and got in contest shape.
I noticed you mentioned a lot about how todays bodybuilders get ready for shows and for me as a recreational bodybuilder that is not realistic.

Hoever I was always impressed by the contest shape of bodybuilders from the 80s like mohamed makkawi, samir bannout etc (excuse spelling if wrong)
They seemed to have deeps muscle seperation and cuts all over the place especially arms and shoulders..which I do not see nowadays..
Also they looked great symmetrically and as they were not huge gave the impression it was attainable for many by hard work and dedication.

I have read a lot about training schedules and as they did not have acces to the drugs bodybuilders do nowadays I was wondering how they got in that terrific contest shape ??

I heard some stories about bodybuilders from 80's just eating cans of tuna in water only for weeks however thats sounds awfull and not realistic..but might be true due to lack of info at the time...

Can you tell me/us how how these guys dieted/trained/used to get into contest shape?

It really amazes me how much things have changed. I started training in '88 and thought the pro's were monsters - almost like cartoons. I was watching the WBF footage of Strydom before and he looks half the size of todays pro's.

Better - but much smaller.

High protein,low carbs......80`s.

Cardio and more volume.

70`s were high protein no carbs and higher fats(steak,eggs,cottage cheese,tuna,ground beef,chicken,fish............and the occasional salad.

Lots of volume ,no cardio.

NO insulin was a big factor in keeping the waist wasplike and very little GH was used if ever and only by a few.

Ok Just want to what you would say. At my last competiton- at the Master Nationals last year- - over 50 Superheavyweights- got third. To get to first place in that division (and win the over 50 posedown) what do you think I have to do?  (I was on 600 mg test- cut it 10 days out because I tend to hold water,  150 mg Tren a week,  cut it a week out, 50 mg oral Anavar daily up to the show, and did lasix 3 times afternoon, evening before the show and morning of show- flying messes me up). gh15 What diuretic do you recommend using for "special occasions" except competition of course.

Im talking for days you feel youre holding water.

And how do you use it? Ive used diuretics but only precontest - few days out.

I had one old school competitor tell me Midol is fine for the common water retention lol

use for a week ,,play with it ,,see how you look,, if you are truly fat you will see it wont help ,,if you are lean and see the things i talk about in bible...aka you see the vein coming from delt to chest...vein or veins...you see the veins on forarms...you see abs yet you dont have the suck in shrink wrapped...then diuretic within few days will make DRASTIC CHANGE ON YOU and you will wake up in the morning and wil be refered to by your female friend or whore whomever ended up in your bed as...magazine fitness model

diuretic is the only diff between advanced gym rat and fitness model,,ONLY DIFF

it does have a mild diuretic in it, some form of anti-histamine.  It's called Pyrilamine

nutrition matter when it comes to being 4% ,,it doesnt matter when it comes to 6% ,,again when i say not matter i do not mean you can sit in mcdonalds 5 times a dsay ,,and i dotn mean you can drink the canola oil your mama is cooking with 3 times a day ,,and you cant sit eat candies all day long or cakes,,,you do need to have over all balance,,but in the big picture you can sit eat sushi and german and jamaican and walk around 6% and with diuretic look amazing dry 6% that is straight out of mens health magazine ,,well its homo magazine ,,so muscle and fitness...

for 4% nutrition matter,,then its a very detailed nutrition and it is followed for number of weeks by all of us,,NUMBER OF WEEKS DOESNT MEAN 5 MONTHS,,OR 3 MONTHS,,it means number of weeks 4-8 weeks if you know your body

Well last week precontest you play with water/sa;t/carbs so its more like a preset regime...y know what do do and when..

But how a diuteric would fit into a typical week..

thanks wes. high volume understandable however bit surprised with the no cardio part but i guess the high volume was enough
