Drugs to help with sleep.
« on: June 17, 2011, 11:49:39 AM »
During summertime I have trouble sleeping..I sleep maybe 6 hours BUT I wake up every hour and then go back to sleep..so I get like 4 hours of shitty sleep ed.

I feel tired as shit and im dragging myself all day.

Ive been told that I snore like a truck..so apnea might be one of the causes.

Anyway, Im gonna try some sleep drugs to get a few days of quality sleep.

What have you used?

And no I dont want advices like "dont drink liquids before sleep" or "go to the doctor".  ::)

"X" drug at "X" dose. simple.

I've been a horrible sleeper my entire life, even as a child. I've for whatever reason never required that much sleep but it's often still hard to get the sleep I need. I've had success with Ambien in the past. The first time I had a script for it I took 5mg before bed and within 30min I couldn't keep my eyes open to save my life. I've got my second script for Ambien now, 5mg tabs but this time they don't seem to work as well...sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.

The best combination I've found is 5mg of Ambien and 3 Solmalyze capsules. The Solmalyze really relaxes me and of course the Ambien gives it a boost. For whatever reason simple melatonin has never done much for me but this combo seems to work pretty well.

what about xanax? what does it do?

It's mostly for anxiety, third best drug ever conceived after morphine and penicillin. ;)

OTC sleep remedies:
As said by tbombz and Lesaucer:
Diphenhydramine as in Benadryl 20-50 mg
Melatonin 1-3 mg
+
Doxylamine succinate 10-30 mg
Phenibut, start low and work your way up 250-1500 mg
(Forget Valerian).

RX meds:
Temazepam brand name restoril 10-50 mg, my favourite since it does not interfere with REM sleep.
Zolpidem brand name Ambien 5-15 mg
Zopiclone brand name Imovane 3,75 - 10 mg
Eszopiclone brand name Lunesta 1-3 mg
Diazepam, Diapam/Valium 10-40 mg
Etiozolam 1-3 mg before bedtime.

Also Lyrica, (pregabalin) will put you to sleep, but before it does it makes you into a zombie, be careful with this one, dosages 75-300 mg for sleep and anxiety + pain relief.

Also most opioid's help you sleep and if i remember correctly you are from France and can get most anything OTC or very easily available such as Codeine and Ethylmorphine (Tussipax comprimés) also "Peter sirop" is insane if it's still available.

Just keep in mind that all of these are pretty addictive.

I also hav sleep trouble, so I take 5 tabs 10mgs zopiclone Every night and sh!t works wonder. but tabs are hella bitter

Are you saying that you take 50 mg of Zopiclone per night?! If so that's the highest i have ever heard. One thing i know for sure is that no doc would ever, under any circumstances prescribe a dose that high.

Interestin' thread. Ever since I started my cycle a couple weeks back, I've been sleepin' like a baby, for the most part. But, some days, I still wake up at night every couple of hours. Anything I can take that won't show up on a drug test ( in my line of work I'm randomly drug-tested ) ?

Sorry to hi-jack the thread. :(

Just curious is all. If no one knows, that's cool.

There's many things for that, mostly sedative antihistamines like doxylamine succinate, perfectly legal and OTC. Avoid benzos if you are tested for those and don't have a script.

I am on 10 mg of Zolpidem (generic for Ambien). I do not take it every night. If I do not get good rest for 2-3 days straight I take on and sleep pretty soundly. I have a couple buddies that got hooked on the shit. I don't see the big thrill in taking it to get a buzz myself.

1. You need two buy the Perfect bed / Mattress for you....So many people sleep on old mattresses....I get a new one like every 2 years....Sleep is too important.

2. No caffine at all during day. No sugar of food with in a few hours before bed.

3. Don't take any naps during the day.

4. try to get on a set sleep and wake up schedule, and have a set going to sleep ritual.

5Try taking a relaxing bath before bed or shower before bed.

6. don't run or do cardio with in a few hours before bed.

7. try having a warm glass of milk before bed.

8. reading makes me fall asleep...LoL...seriously ...especialy the bible

9. sleepy time tea

10. meditate using the 5-7-8  breath. I do this a few times a day even if its just 10 minutes. You can be sitting in a chair or lying on your back. You breath in deep through your nose sslowly and let your belly expand and get full as you breathe in to a count of 5....you hold it in for 7 count...then you breathe out slowly for a 8 count. No need to do any zen or budda mantras....just empty your mind and follow your breath and feel the sensation through your nose and belly...expand belly when breath comes in, and let belly get smaller while breathing out. Singers and Actors learn to breath this way. Best and most basic forms of meditation. google 5-7-8 breathe. Meditation teaches adults to live in the present like kids do, before the learn to have axieties and thoughts all the time. google 5-7-8 breathe.

11. a few hours before bed time, dim lights, or don't allow yourself to get over stimulated by light like TV or Internet.

12. The temperature of your bedroom also affects sleep. Most people sleep best in a slightly cool room (around 65° F or 18° C) with adequate ventilation. A bedroom that is too hot or too cold can interfere with quality sleep.

13. Don't watch the clock: Looking at the time in the middle of the night can breed anxiety thus making it harder to fall a sleep, so just avoid it....some people cover the clock with a cloth or something...but so you can still hear the alarm.

14. get ear plugs or ear muffs to block out distractions

15. or get those eyes masks, with the cooling pad, you keep in the freezer...very relaxing and soothing, plus it blocks out all light...I got one from the brookstone store I think its called at the mall...the one like sharper image.

16. get your life together....if you are eating right, living right, have good friends and family, straight with GOD and church, have structure and routine in your life.....and simply just do what is right...you will fall a sleep. Read books on Time Management....and get structure and routine in your life. Time Management is the secret to life and "living in the present" Practice the 5-7-8 breath. Also prayer works wonders..Ask GOD to give you a new heart, new mind, and to send you the holy spirit, to transform you into his image with his character and countance...everyday.... This prayer is the money shot!  :)

0.4-1.2mg is all thats needed.

You should NOT combine Somalyze with ANY RX sleep medications let alone Ambien!

Ambien, (Zolpidem) interacts with Melatonin and also potentiates GABA both are part of Somalyze. The interactions with these three substances can be very dangerous and unpredictable. Better option would be to try and sleep few days without it so when you do use it, your tolerance has dropped a little also if that's out of the question it would be safer to simply take more of Ambien than to combine it with Somalyze.

PS. Yes i'm a "fan" of Xanax, but it will only put you to sleep if your insomnia is anxiety related, but otherwise no. Unless you have zero tolerance and/or take a shitload of it. Temazepam is weaker mg per mg, but does not interfere with your body's normal sleeping patterns.
