OMG! :o  I actually have seen the reservoir in person back in Summer 1989 when visiting Family in Oregon! They actually lived across the stree from it and we would walk over there to play on a tennis court next to the reservoir.

Funny story - my cousin actually threw a tennis ball in there by mistake and we were all terrified that we were going to get in serious trouble as there were even cameras up back then as plenty of WARNING sings!

I live in Portland and have been to that reservoir. It is in a park on a small extinct volcano Mt. Tabor. Anyway our water is very clean and great tasting and there is no reason to have drained this other than just because of the yuck factor. And yes birds and animals crap and piss and die in it on a daily basis and nothing bad happens. And no, it wasn't me who did it, sorry.

There was nothing about this young fellow that suggested he was a hippie. Anyway most hippies are middle-aged at least. This guy was about twenty years old.
