Well, to be fair, lots of people try to politically/ideologically differentiate themselves all the time. I even do it when I boldly proclaim that "I'm not a Republican, I'm a conservative, you fuckhead!"

I just eye roll when I see the word "progressive" like it's something totally different in practice/reality when compared to a liberal.

I don't think it's semantics I believe that when I personally think about what a "Republican" is at this point in history it doesn't , in my opinion, match up with what a Republican used to mean. I think that, and I may be wrong, that Democrats view the classifications in the same light but now instead of saying "Liberal" they use "Progressive".

GOP/DEM are simply political parties that, at one time, contained the Conservative/Liberal/ "Progressive" ( ::) ::) ::))  political ideologies.
