What Was Behind The Clooney-Canalis SplitPosted by Josh Duboff - Thu Jun 23 2011, 10:26 AM PDT
"She drove him nuts." Venturelli/WireImage A day after the announcement that George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis have called it quits, today brings the reports about what may have led to the demise of their relationship.
Us Weekly says that the first signs of discontent arose during the couple's trip to Mexico over New Year's, when Canalis got on Clooney's last nerve.
"She drove him nuts," the source says, explaining there was "non-stop bickering over little things... He would only hang out with his friends, and more or less left her to herself and her friends."
Clooney also reportedly "created distance" from Canalis with his busy work schedule.
E! News basically corroborates this story in their report.
"He's been trying to figure out how to get out of this for a while," said a close Clooney bud, regarding the slow goodbye of Elisabetta. "And let's face it, this always happens..."
Another source of friction, according to E!, was Canalis' insecurity around Clooney's famous Hollywood pals, such as Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt.
"She was always shy," said a famous executive pal of Clooney's. "And you know what? She didn't speak great English. To tell you the truth, I don't think George's Italian is that great, either!"
But perhaps Canalis -- who recently said she hopes to married -- is better off without the actor? According to a "Clooney crony," Clooney "will never marry again... ever."
