I tried doing that actually and i felt the pose didn't look as powerful. When you have weak arms you ahve to pull the elbow forward so they look midgety. Lee Priest used to hit it like that but his hands were back more on his hips. I have tried playing with it like that but i can't get the elbows far enough. I am not too worried about width anyway. I haven't come across too many people as wide or wider then me but i have never competed outside of this state so what do i know. That is why i cock the elbows higher on a front double bi.
I hear what you`re saying bro.

I wasn`t trying to imply that you lacked width, you certainly do not,I just think if you could hit the shot like that you`d look even wider.

At any rate, once you dial it in,I`ll bet you`ll see a lot more detail than last year.

Nice quads & long torso.  You still have big rooms of improvements!

Keep up the hard work.

You would easily win the NC State show.

I don't think so.

Leafy is good but look at guys who have won that show, like Jason Winn.  http://contest.bodybuilding.com/bio/136742/

Yeah, yeah, hurfdurfgynololz.  But compare his thickness to LB's.  And Winn is a joke next to former winners like Rodney Saunders and Wayne Grady.

I mean, look at this line-up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69QYiuJ3N-Y.  Leafy could clean house in a few years with more size, but there's no reason to mislead him.  He wouldn't stand a chance against Tim or that bald black guy.

 >:(  Seriously though I did't think many people did. I've always been a stickler for proper mandatory poses and I see a lot of guys who seem to never practice. When you see guys do a pose a very different way you know it's for a reason and it's usually to hide something which in the end makes it look more pronounced. In Leafybugs case he has nothing to hide as he would look good in a lat spread. Think he is being too critical on himself.

Just got back from the NWA Natural show guys. It was a great show with many costumes and characters. I like going to bodybuilding shows from the awkwardness and public humiliation. Here is the update. Not as lean as i was last year at 7 weeks out unfortunately but i was ready at 3 weeks out. I hope i can still get the striated glutes so it will accentuate the glitter on my Brazilian cut trunks.

I like how you're lovingly staring at yourself in the third pics down :D

I think it mostly has to do with someones structure..maybe leafybug feels unconfotable doing it with hands on the hips..his structure doesnt allow it..might hurt his shoulders too..

I use my thumbs to hook into the side of my waist so my fists rest close to my belly button then most people. I have arms as long as i am tall so any way i can shorten that distance to the viewer in my opinion is a plus.

I was too busy writing Beethoven's 5th oh wait it was already written.  ::) Even when you try to sound witty your fuken stupidity shines through. You gotta be one of the dumbest ugliest worthless human beings on the planet. I now understand why you are so bitter, but I have no sympathy for you. On a side not, I would never in a million years trade bodies with your genetic code mishap of an excuse for a man.  ;D

Looks like Dennis Wolf at a lower body weight, including waist, height, limb length, and other specifics.  Even in your rear lat spread where your lats start a little above the lower back, Dennis has a very similar look in his rear lat spread.  If you dig up Dennis Wolf's photos from 1999 you will see how similar your physique/frame is.

See the comparison below for what I mean about the way Dennis' lats start in his rear lat photo.  And yes, I get the fact that Dennis is a lot bigger I'm just saying he is structurally similar to Leafy.

actually charles glass gave me pointers on lat spread, everyone is different and their bodies are different, so the most is doing it where its comfortable but still proper...........example sammir bannout puts fingers on very back of the back, its all about what is aesthetic and looks right or presented in the right spread.

The further out you put your hands in a lat spread, the further out your elbows are................arms wide like this even if a guy has zero lats makes him look wider.

With big lats they just look bigger.

Another example is a small guy hitting a crabshot.........if he hits it with elbows out to the side,it makes him look bigger.

Nobody knows what I`m talking about do they ???  ;D

I`m right though......trust me on that!

If I was Leafy, I would not hide my waist with my hands as I think that is what separates him from almost all on stage with him.  Any opinions on this front Lat Spread technique?

I agree,he has a tight small waist and hitting like Haney or Yates is doing is gonna` make him look as wide as a barn door.

Don`t hide your strong points and if you have trouble hitting a pose correctly, just practice it until you get it down pat.

In Leafys back lat spread shot, his back is fully flexed and expanded, and most likely he cannot get it to flare out even one little bit more, but with hands on hips instead of in front, he would be creating an illusion of even more width because his elbows would be further away from his body, making him appear even wider than he truly is.

Illusion = real when you are seeing something like a pose.

That was a bit clearer explanation than my previous one I think.
