If I had no family or friends, was 99 years old and faced with terminally ill cancer coupled with a highly contagious disease that kept me in an isolation chamber within a hospital, all the while the metastasizing cancer caused grueling pain that no form of narcotic could alleviate....

Under those circumstances, I would probably consider suicide, but only consider it. I don't know if I have the balls to go all the way.

The only one I can really think of is an end of life scenario; stricken with a fatal illness in the very last years of normal human life (85+ years of age) and electing to go out on my own terms rather than be hooked up to a machine, suffer, decline into a vegetative state, or be a burden to my family.

Yes, being paralyzed or some thing like ALS Would do it for me. Advanced stage Alzheimers too. Anything where your enjoyment of life is drastically changed and you'd have to depend on others to help with the most basic of needs. I'd want to go out with some dignity.

I stopped visiting here for around 3 years and I come back to read sick shit like that.

In my time, this place used to be more.......hu, shall I say......uplifting?

Having said that, to answer the OP question I'd do me in if I woke up looking like Vince Basile, Vince Goodrum or that little guy that was a big schmoe, liked samwiches, worked graveyard shifts and was picked on by everybody and their brother in this forum around 2003/2004.....forgot his name, but he used to post at mayhem foruns.

Looking like either of these 3 would be more than enough reason for me.
