This is 240's M.O. Deflect, deflect, deflect. Any discussion of something Obama does is derailed by this asshole and forced onto either Palin, Bush or the Repubs.

The funniest part of this is that liberals like 240 think they're actually proving something by comparing Mr. "Hope and changey", aka the anti-Bush, to Bush.

It's fucking sad... I admit that I hated Bush... The Patriot Act, 2 Wars, and a host of other things I can't stand... so why the fuck wouldn't I want "change" to be actual fucking CHANGE.

I would have wanted the guy to be NOTHING like Bush... but he's just the same... Sure... the other guy would have too, but he DIDN'T win!

Obama did and he's just as fucking bad.

If you vote for most of the current field your guns will be safe but I'm not sure the economy will boom any time soon. If you go tea party.....I think your going to see change. Bachman is nuts..she's smarter then Palin, more media ready and much more experience but she's waaay to nuts. Perry/Rubio 12' or Perry/Christie.....

Clinton took office in 1992, and he supported the assault weapons ban in 1994.

Then, Bush let americans sit at risk for 3 1/2 years by not repealing the act on DAY ONE of his presidency.  Expired via sunset provision in 2004.

So the fact of the matter is this:  Under 75% of Clinton's presidency, and under 40% of Bush's presidency, we have sat underneath the assault weapons ban.

What % of Obama's presidency have we endured the assault weapons ban?  ZERO.

Bump for an answer.................

Bush allowed the insane brady bill to continue for 3.5 years when he could have easily repealed it.

240 - how does a bill become a law and how is it repealed?

Yes, vote for the guy who thinks that gathering a football stadium full of people in prayer will solve Americas Problems.  He also did the same for the Texas droughts.  ::)

As opposed to Obama?   LMFAO - at this point prayer seems like a viable plan compared to this disaster you voted for and got so giddy over shopping in the same supermarket over.

bachmann and romney have both vowed to repeal obamacare on day 1 of their admin.

I wonder why bush didn't feel so strongly about the brady bill?

Maybe because he had bigger issues to deal with like 9/11 and the economy?

on jan 20, 2001?

yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh sorry.   He had time to scream about stem cell research all spring 2001 then spend the summer golfing.  He certainly had time in that first 8 months to restore gun rights.  Do you really want to look at his first 8 months in office and rank all those items over the brady bill?

Maybe because AWB2 was not crippling the nation at the time?    Damn you are dense.   You can't see the difference between AWB2 which was set to expire regardless, and ObamaCare, which is already helping collapse the economy?

Good job 240.

it was set to expire almost FOUR YEARS later.

It didn't expire until 2004.  You're telling me Bush was too busy to help the 70 million gun owners of america?  Too busy with golf and stem cells to allow us to protect ourselves?

Sorry homie... he supported the bill while running, and left it in place once he took office.  He's a fcking lib on gun rights, and you know this.

that is possibly one of the worst replies... Why don't you just come out and see Bush for what he was on this issue.  He was actually for the ban.  It's congress that failed to do anything so he never had a bill to sign or veto.  But regardless, on this issue, the issue this thread relates to, Bush supported the fucking ban.

Seems to me you're trying to twist shit into a new subject.  Don't do that...

Yes he did, and where did I ever say I liked Bush?    I have asked every poster on this board to show me even once saying i liked bush.  Even one post out of 58k will do.

What Bush did was irrelevent as he let it expire.  Additionally, the original AWB was mostly cosmetic bs, the one obama wanted was far more expansive.

And as for obamacare - 240 brought it up, not me.

Bush said that he supported the AWB.  In 2000, when running for president.

As president, he kept it in place.  He had plenty of time and dealt with far smaller issues.  After 911, when security was a worry, it would have been the PERFECT time to nullify the bill.  Nope.  he left the bill in place, just as he promised in 2000.

So yes, bush was an anti-gun mfer.  let's just see ya disprove that one, champ.

Why did he let it expire?

he needed far-right votes (and donations) in that 2004 election.

seriously, bush let americans suffer that brady bill bullshit for 3.5 years... and your only defense is "well, he didn't renew it..."

Pathetic.  President Harry Browne would have repeated that shitty bill on Jan 20, 2001.  You know this, man. Bush let it ride for 90% of his first term.

i'm not crying over something that happened nearly 8 years ago which he let expire while your messiah ran on a platform of renacting it , and now promising more gun control, not to mention Fast and Furious, that you could care less about.

Your shit show attempt at deflecting and defending obama are really disgusting lately.  Seriously, you need to check yourself.

if Obama enacts new gun control, I'll be the loudest one criticizing him for it.  particularly if it rivals the brady bill.

HISTORICALLY, we spent 40% of the bush2 era under the Brady bill.

HISTORICALLY, we have spent 0% of the Obama era under any kind of limitation like that, on hi-caps, rifles, etc.

So in 20 years when we look back at which presidents are anti-gun... will Bush be looked at as more of a gungrabber than Obama?  Or will obama one-up him with some crazy gun legislation before then?  And IF he does - is there ANY chance that it gets thru a repub congress?  Of course not.  So he probably won't do it...

Bush was for the ban, I think that's been said...  He didn't let it expire, congress did that.

You're the last person here who should lecture others about deflecting.
