White Supremacist David Duke forms Presidential exploratory committee
July 06, 2011 02:05 AM EDT

David Duke, former Louisiana state representative and Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, has formed a Presidential exploratory committee. He plans to travel to 25 states, trying to gauge public response for a potential run for President. Mr. Duke has a substantial online following and many of his videos go viral. He describes himself as a white civil rights activist and frames his arguments to appeal to white Americans who may be feeling disenfranchised.

David Duke's exploratory committee is part of a larger wave of white supremacists and neo-nazis who are running for state and local offices. Their message appeals to many people who identify as members of the Tea Party. Duke has even produced a video called "David Duke Speaks to the Tea Party." Since the release of this video several weeks ago, Tea Party members have urged Duke to join the Presidential race.

The current political climate suits David Duke's agenda quite nicely. The dissatisfaction and discomfort that many conservatives experience regarding President Obama's presence in the White House, combined with the United States continuing economic troubles and ongoing wars, create an environment where people are looking to place blame. David Duke is quite adept at exploiting people's fear of the other, especially when the "other" occupies the White House. This is an ideal time for David Duke to further his political aspirations and it looks like he intends to capitalize upon it.

The Klu Klux Klan was good at keeping Black crime rates down through intimidation. 90% of the blacks they lynched had raped or stolen from someone. After the 50s most of the "Klans" were fake and run by the FBI. David Duke's Klan was a joke compared to the original Klan.

David Duke can't run. He plead guilty to tax evasion which is a felony years ago which disqualifies him for the office. I wish these reporters would do some research next time before giving this racist any minutes of fame.

If you're lynching someone then you're committing a crime. I do find your accusation of 90% of black pure bullshit but even if it was remotely true then there was a system of justice in place where they were tried and convicted by a jury of peers....oops I mean white folks and hung legally. The fact that they could not wait 2 months for a black or jew person to legally (if you can call it that) get hang or get electrocuted or gassed anyway pretty much nullifies your argument of them being some vigilante group.

The KKK were a terrorist group, no different from Hezbollah, Nazis or the Taliban. They weren't Americans because they didn't even respect the laws that were in place, even though the laws were pretty much in their favor anyway.
