The people who get in more that they pay is companies so yeah those are rich people
Again who are these 50% who doesnt pay taxes?
Kazan is right, just do a little research.
About 50% of the population of ZERO LIABILITY concerning income taxes, in that they pay but get most or all of it back when the tax returns come in and as Kazan mentioned many people even get more money back than they paid in.
Add that to 64% of Americans getting some form of transfer payment from the govt, either welfare, other assistance, food stamps etc and things aren't what they seem when people talk about "shared sacrifice".
There needs to be massive tax reform. Close the loopholes, shelters, credits etc, broaden the tax base, cut the number of brackets and then lower the overall rates.
Just screaming to drive tax rates higher on the upper income tax brackets is pure distraction and class warfare at it's best. You won't raise much revenue at all, if any and the upper brackets capital/cash is highly mobile they will be able to dodge the increased rates if there isn't any reform. The rate hikes will end up hurting small business and such which is a bad thing.
