I looked at the vid a few times, & the Chimp is definitely firing the AK, but they were blanks for sure, there was no dirt kicked up right in front of the chairs where the mussel was aimed.

As for the sound quality, it would depend on the type of video camera used, & the mic unit it had.
I will make an educated guess that, seeing as they were sub-Sahara someplace, that it was a cheap one.
So the sound is not an issue.
However they were blanks 100% for sure.

Even those dopey, sub 79 IQ, fuckers would not give a chimp an AK with LIVE rounds!!

Here is an AK (with a larger 40-round clip) on full auto with LIVE rounds, ironically with another Monkey firing it, LOL
The sound is bang on for an AK, but that was filmed in the states on, I would wager a state of the art camera & mic unit.

Also blanks will not sound the same, as you do not have a 7.62mm round leaving the mussel, which will alter the sound it makes as the air is displaced.
