I know I'm name dropping here but I gotta do it brcause I know Keith will be laughing where ever he is presently located.
A long while ago while I was in high school I stold my dad's car and drove the 400 miles from Northern California to Los Angeles with four of my best friends way back then.
A family member was a big name in Hollywood and invited us to appear in some background shots in his current production.
So we arrive in LA on a hot Saturday afternoon and the studios are closed and my uncle is on location someplace in Arizona.
So we're all pissed off after that long drive and it's hot and a cold beer sounded great but we're too young to enter a bar.... but we see a dump of a bar on one of the side streets off Hollywood Blvd called THE LAMP LIGHTER,
We look inside and it's dark as shit ... so we go in and grab a vacant booth in an even darker cornor and hope for the best.
But no one comes to help us so we tell the oldesr looking one of us to walk up to the bar and get each of us a Miller High Life which kids liked back then,
So Ray who is 17 but looks more like 17 and a half walks up to the bar with a fist full off dollars while we all watch hopeing for the best, but expecting to get thrown back out into the sun-light.
But instead of talking to the bartender Ray starts a conversation with the only other guy in the bar who tells the bartender to open five beers for his new found friends and he and Ray bring us the beers we had been praying for.
And as the beers are passed around Ray says, "Hey guys! This is Marlon Brando. The guy in that new movie about the waterfront.
But Marlon only responded with, "You guys got a lot of balls drinking in a bar at your age and this is probably the only place in town that would serve you. Have a good time but don'y over-do it.
And he laughed and departed but the bartender informed us that we had a few more beers lined up - courtesy of Mr Brando.
Later on that same afternoon we had a very slight altercation with a singer named Eddie Fisher, but one name dropping event is enough to get Keith riled up no matter where he is.
Keith really loved these "Hollywood Top This" games we used to play .... so this one is submitted in his memory ..... And Mr Brando's too!
