Ask the judges, my friend. It's their doing. I, personally, just see bb'ers getting bigger and bigger and bigger, etc. with conditioning TOTALLY takin' a backseat. Hell, we're already seein' it ! Both in the amateur and pro ranks. It's a fuckin' mess, really !

I doubt that we will.

On the other side of the coin, I'm sure Flex wouldn't want to go through that again either.

That's 216 pounds right there. 216. And no one can say that he was lazy to get into that shape and be in agony at the same time.

Sadly, Flex was part of the problem as well.

He should have kept that level of conditioning/shape and stayed true to the essence of what bodybuilding truly is, instead he started to play the size game and injected all sorts of shit into his body.

Dexter was probably one of the few, along with Shawn Ray, that didn't sell himself over to the dark side and play the size game.

That being said, I still think that Flex was TOO big.  This guy right here is what bodybuilding is truly about:

Soon after doing a few shows, Richard Jones realized that professional bodybuilding was nothing but a dead end with no real money involved and instead went off to pursue a masters degree, along with some side work as a model.

Quite true, it was the car accident and the loss to Ronnie in 1998 that did Flex in...

Richard Jones---man, even at 180 pounds richard  was almost ideal.

I GUESS THAT WILL GRANT FELLA WAS RIGHT BOUT ME NOT WORRYING ABOUT THE SCALE.
He was 215 when he won his pro card, about 230ish at the 93 Ironman, and 218 at the 93 Olympia

Show me one single bodybuilder with Flex's genetics and there you will find another Flex Wheeler.

I mean come on, how often will you see a back like that??? Almost never!! It's not just hard work, it's genetics as well. Flex was put together so insanely well...It's hard to imagine anyone coming along to match or beat that.

Look at his friggin lower lats, and how they tie into his traps PERFECTLY!!! It's just plain amazing and an anomaly. Bodybuilding really had it good during that time period.

He "played the size game" because he wasn't winning. In an interview he did years ago when he'd ask the judges for advice it was always you perfect just need to be bigger. Unless you're Ronnie Coleman or Markus Ruhl I don't think anyone likes playing the size game. It can't be fun walking around at 300 lbs.

The problem I believe is the judges. I really don't think the majority of the audience likes the mass monsters but most prefer their NPC look.

Trapped on an desert island with Jay today or Jay back in the day (homo)?

There are some good guys there, but not even Flex's heir apparent Melvin Anthony could compare (and had the same conditioning problems).
