I was serious about the watch, but about TA, this what I've learned over the years working with wealthy self-made people. You don't boast about your wealth and don't make fun of people who have less. THOSE are the people who 9 out of 10 times don't have a pot to piss in.

damn I would never have a 36k watch

holly shit I'll be anxious about not breaking it or losing it all the time

it pisses me off to lose 200$ sunglasses, can't imagine a 36k watch

I disagree, you can boast if you want to, or you do not have to, it has no bearing on the status of wealth.  It is irrelevant and up to the individual.

Is that how you explain away the watch?  I personally do not see it as insecurity or a need for attention at all.  I have no idea what your case is though,

The watch remark was a direct reponse to your pompous response to the kind of car I bought

The price is not what I found amusing.  The fact that it was a Non-American car and a VW CC and a Jetta at that.

It would be salt over the shoulder if you were anyone other than "The Coach".  Understand?

He may have been referrng more to your state of mental maturiy which you sorely lack. It's obvious that some of the possesions that u have acquired already in your life make u feel the need to brag. This is due to to your level of maturity. Your thoughts are very simplistic and it's easy to see why.

At least we all know that you and Coach are not jealous of my physique. (supposedly).  Isn`t that enough to console yourself and quell any envy?

My girl was buying a car a few months ago, so I started to wonder around the lot. I was looking at a range rover and a salesman comes over to me. He didnt want to hear that I wasnt looking, and made some jackass comments like I couldn't afford one. So I had him show it to me, then took it for a test drive. Then when we got out he wanted to talk numbers. So I asked if I could put a snorkel on it. He looks at me like 'wtf' and goes no, I think only hummers have them.

I then said, oh really, not interested then walked off.

Everything is designed to make you think you beat the dealer. It's a trillion dollar industry. They are not stupid.  When I hear a moron say they bought a new car for $200 dollars over what the dealer paid I just have to laugh.  They would be out of business if they didn't make thousands per car. They would never sell a car for a couple hundred profit. They are not selling lawn mowers.  They succeeded in the scam that is selling a car while  deceiving another moron buyer that thinks they beat the dealer. They are not that easy a mark.  They will show you a tissue invoice, Ha, Ha. I'm sure it's real.

I got a consumers reports on a new car giving me the invoice on a van I wanted. I went to another source and got the "tissue" invoice.  Lastly I went to a third. I got the van for $2000 under what the they all said the invoice was.  Did they give away the car for $2K under what they paid for it?  No, I bet they made a minimum of 4K.

Car dealers have one invoice if they order one car. If they order 10 it's a different price. If they order 100 it's different price.  An example of this is in NJ   the State Police bought a bunch of Ford Crown Vics and Dodge Durangos.  They bought each one for around 18K.  Now if you did your reseach you wouldn't come close to that 18k being the invoice.  Yet at 18K the dealers dealing with the state was making a boat loads of money.

I actually feel bad to say this cause no one can help how they are born so all I will say is I envy nothing when it pertains to your physique

This is a common trick by salespeople in all industries.

You're not good enough to own this, (or get this job etc) so you buy it to prove them wrong. What if you say 'yeh you're right i'm poor as shit can you spare a dollar'

That certainly IS NOT a good tactic.  One NEVER EVER insults a customer or a potential one EVER. I used to hang around the Ferrari dealership, was friends with all the sales people and service as that is where I took my Lotus. I would see people come in who may not look like they could afford a Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin etc.. and they`d purchase on the spot.  Never once did they judge the customer, nor would they ever.

EXACTLY !

my friend went to ford to buy a F-250 Harley 4 years ago.

he was 20 years old and still had his working clothes on (construction worker so he was dirty)

he asked the guy: how much is the truck ?
the guy said: too expensive for you

my friend said nothing, he started talking with the youngest sellman, probably a new guy there who started not long ago. He told them he I like this truck can I do a test drive. the young guy was super happy, made him do a test drive and my friend bought the truck that same day

Read the 'power of persuasion' awesome book that shows all of the ways salesman try to scam you, and how you can do it to others.
