Anytime I have visited and the news is on my dad yells about Obama, and everybody...he only listens to conservative right wing shows for the last 15 yrs. As a kid I remember watching Meet The Press and all those Sunday political shows, but he says that they don't "give fair and balance views" and don't tell the truth. Nobody in our family wants to hear him talk about politics or the government. And he has that damn Mike Savage on...he is branwashed...and he doesn't realize, just as you said, Savage has his own agenda...

Nobody wants to be around someone who talks to mere strangers about how the government is cheating them (this person will travel 5 miles if he finds out if the grocery store "cheated" him on 10 cents for a item), no one wants to be in the car with someone who goes on 20 min rants...

I've heard that lower test levels are associated with Grumpy Old Man Syndrome.  That and all the world's bs, I suppose, but if things don't roll off his back like they used to and you reckon his character has really changed then it might be worth looking into.  There's the common mental ailments of the elderly too, if you think that bears investigating.

Being retired and getting overly impassioned about politics seems to be an old man thing to do though.  Been meaning to ask mine why he waited 70 years to get so fired up if this stuff is of such Earth shaking importance.

CNBC isn't partisan, they are biased to the side of pumping the markets and pushing big bank propaganda. CNN has plenty of bias when it comes to leaning left, they are just more covert about how they present the material.

A lot of the time bias isn't in whats being said and whats being presented, instead it's about context and what is not being said or presented.
