Nutritional Budget
« on: July 25, 2011, 12:22:43 PM »
This sounds weird but I am really curious to know how much $ do you people spend on basic food, supplements?be it US or anywhere?
does the price differ in various regions?
This is an general question, everyone can pop in their opinion.

Ususally the best place to buy supplements are supplement discount stores. Every major city in the US should have one. Unfortunately if you live in the boonies you arent going to be able to find one. GNC unfortunately is too expensive. Walmart and most local grocery stores, along with SAMs and Costco have pretty competitive prices, and they offer a better selection than they have in the past, but they still wont have the kind of vast selection as supplement stores.

To answer the question there are countless internet stores to go to where you will get your products cheaper then if you go to GNC or Vitamin World.  Online pretty much makes it where anywhere in the continental US the prices will be consistent.  Around the world I really do not know.  I would imagine its a whole different set of circumstances given customs, whats allowed in that specific country, ect..

If you are shopping at a local store, like MM2K mentioned, you will likely get a better deal if your area has a locally owned discount store.  Often the prices will be better than bigger chains but its not a guarantee.  As for the bigger chains, I just wouldnt step foot into a GNC you will always pay more..yes I'm sure someone has gotten a deal here and there or they matched a price somewhere but they always have flat out been rediculously over priced.

Vitamin World used to be good but theyve had some "restructuring" and a management overhaul over the last few years and they are now nearly as expensive as GNC though not quite as bad.

Vitamin Shoppe for me is the best of the bigger chains...the ones I stop into have decent prices and the staff will not stand there and give you some rehersed line trying to sell you whatever they get commission for or whatever upper management tells them to sell if they want to be employed the following day.

Take home lesson-internet pricing seems to be best!!  Word of advice..you will see some internet sites that have prices that seem way to good to be true.  My advice is to call the place before you place an order.  Make sure ther is a human being you can get a hold of.  If they do not provide a number I personally would not order from them.  A lot of these places are strictly drop ship companies..which is fine but if something were to go wrong with your order make sure there is someone you can get a hold of.

Hope this helps..

www.dpsnutrition.com

www.allstarhealth.com

I've dealt with both for several years (DPS much longer), and both offer excellent prices and OUTSTANDING service with real, live people who answer the phones.
I have had no bad experiences with either company; nor has anyone I know.

Ya I have ordered from DPS a few times and have always had a good experience.  Takes one or two business days to get you shipment and the prices are good!!

Yeah, they've got better prices on certain items than AllStar, and vice versa.

About $45 bucks a week on MRPs/protein powders , $30 every 3 or 4 months on multi vitiamin/mineral supplements , about $35 bucks every 45 days on flax oil. In my opinion those are the supplements you really should try to get no matter how bad your financial situation gets. The MRPs are basically food.

I get a 1 month supply of ZMA Fuel by Twinlab for about $17 bucks at my local supplement store. I also get a 2 month supply of 7 Keto Lean Gel Caps for $45 bucks at my local supplement store. You would be surprised at how cheap supplements can get if you buy them in the biggest bulk possible.

At Walmart, you will find a generic brand of chicken breasts - $10 for about 8 or 10 chicken breasts. Thats the best deal I have found for chicken breasts. I also bought top round steaks there for $4.68 per pound. You could probably get a slighly better deal than that at Costco or Sams, but I cant stand fucking with that stupid card you have to renew every year to shop there.

Depends where i'm at with my supply during a month. On average 140.00 a month on protein powders and vitamins that I may be running low on.

For me, approximately £60-£70 a month on supplements (protein powder, maltodextrin, and creatine) and about £200-250 a month on food.
