I have two uncles that retired as General Supervisors.  They're not union, they're management.  GM took their health insurance away a couple years ago when it was in trouble, class act.

Apparently in 2008, Ferrari's factory was voted as one of the best places to work.

I think I can speak about this, above all because I live 19 km from it  :)

What is true: one of the best places to work with wood on the floor, big windows, lots of passion. Usually if you pass and you start working for them they will make you grow from beginner level going up. The romantic "thing" is there. Salary is not high since of course there are so many requests to get the job that you can forget about getting a medium salary for a non specialized mechanic: average in Italy i.e. EUR 1.600 net per month (approx USD 2.300).

What is not true: Ferrari does not need to take care of your health insurance because italian state does.

Legend to be proven: Luca Cordero di Montezemolo "highly encourages" you to have an italian car and not an import.

oh, sorry if I forgot but it was so obvious (at least for us here in Italy): we really all love our guys working at Ferrari, expecially those in the Reparto Corse of Formula One.

See, Italy is such a small Country that being able to kick ass in the maximum expression of motoring competition in the world since 1950 just makes us really love them.

Few examples: when you see a Ferrari truck on the highway everybody cheers them, if they are at a gasoline station people is all over the place taking pic with them, offering them something to drink, even to the last one who is just cleaning the floor.
The priest of Maranello every sunday that there is a race will invite people to see it and if our guys win the bells of the church will go crazy.

Except that Ferrari is victorious  :D
