Getting Bin Laden

Somebody asked if we're the best military in the world....yeah we are. Not all of this may be true but I'm sure its gets close enough for civilians.

A second SEAL stepped into the room and trained the infrared laser of his M4 on bin Laden’s chest. The Al Qaeda chief, who was wearing a tan shalwar kameez and a prayer cap on his head, froze; he was unarmed. “There was never any question of detaining or capturing him—it wasn’t a split-second decision. No one wanted detainees,” the special-operations officer told me. (The Administration maintains that had bin Laden immediately surrendered he could have been taken alive.) Nine years, seven months, and twenty days after September 11th, an American was a trigger pull from ending bin Laden’s life. The first round, a 5.56-mm. bullet, struck bin Laden in the chest. As he fell backward, the SEAL fired a second round into his head, just above his left eye. On his radio, he reported, “For God and country—Geronimo, Geronimo, Geronimo.” After a pause, he added, “Geronimo E.K.I.A.”—“enemy killed in action.”...

i don't understand that... handcuff him, bring him to the USA, torture and question him for a year, THEN cap his ass.

he was planning a 9/11 anniversary attack... what if the guys are out there ready to implement it, and OBL would have (after enough LSD or waterboarding) given up the details.

So while nobody argues the seals are certifiable badasses who are protecting out country...

I don't understand just killing the leader of a terror organization - if you can pump him for INTEL THEN kill him.

Enough is enough 180!   Why So obama can try to put on civilian show truials at ground zero and allow bin laden to abuse the justice system with the glee of Holder and the far left traitors and seditious leftist vermin cheering on the collapse of the nation?

Hell no.   My only wish is that they would have pulled out their K Bar instead and plunged it into his heart, while on tape.

Who said anything about putting him on civilian trial?

Our govt has done a LOT of interrogation and execution "in the field" in history, haven't we?  We have all heard of the WWII stories.

IF IF IF there is a 9/11 anniversary attack that OBL masterminded, people will say "Why the F didn't we interrogate him before feeding him to teh sharks?"

I dunno... We have done a lot of shit in war history with bad guys, and I don't think most of them have ended up in civilian trial, right?  Can the wise men here tell us what options we have for executing battlefield criminals?  Surely they aren't all brought to NYC for trial.

YOU DID JACKASS - REMEMBER?

You were one of the main dolts supporting Holders' move in 2009 on KSM at ground zero.  Don't think we forget 180.  Many of us know and remember you early andunending kneepadding and sycophantic worship of obama and holders' treatment of the ksm matter.

Just like with anything like this the truth and this story aren't the same. It may well be close and it reads well but who knows what went on inside the house. Plus I think nobody wanted to have this asshole still around. It causes more problems then its worth. Nobody here talks Bin Laden anymore. The next time he's mentioned will be in a Presidential debate. If he were alive.....imagine the constant stream of bs flowing around.

Sounds more like a sensationalized Tom Clancy novel. Most, if not all, the SF guys wouldn't bother with such pompous stories, they'd just acknowledge that objectives have been achieved and move on.

Alot of folks said the same thing. These guys usually don't talk...Special Forces do to an extent but not tier one folks like Team 6. However, the New Yorker is a reputable magazine so I suspect some of it is true enough.

They probably didn't have to talk.  Presumably they were wearing helmet cams so it could've been any number of people.

Or maybe the helmet cams are bullshit too...who knows...

At the bottom of the ocean.

Can you imagine.... every ACLU type lawyer would be losing their mind at the possibility of defending him. He would NEVER get executed or any real punishment out of fear of muslim retaliation.

Not to go CT, but maybe they did take Bin Laden to do what 240 is saying.  Maybe that's why we never saw the body.

The SEALS were probably smart enough to know that this mugabe disgusting dirty deranged animal Obama probably would have brought he SEALS up on charges if they captured him alive solely on the words of Osama that he was tortured.

BTW - the only difference between Obama and Osama is BS

I thought Obama ordered the mission?

I was more concerned with the Bush families relation to the Bin Laden family...

Obama didnt order a damn thing.  He is a sideshow in this and trying to take credit for something he had nothing to do with.

I dont mind that he's dead, that's fine.  I just want a photo, a video, something showing that it happened when they say it did.

Personally I think he died several years ago, but of course don't have a video or photo to prove it :)
