Is this a good thing to sit on?

Isn't the Presidential desk like 200 years old? Seems like a bad idea to me.

No, its not that old.  It was given to Rutherford B. Hayes by Queen Victoria in 1880.

I have been looking at getting an exact replica of the desk for myself.  The desk above was built from Timbers from the English Ship, Resolute, which was completed in 1850 and ran aground in 1854.

The Oval Office has more than one desk available.  Each President chooses the desk he wants to use... or he can have a new one made just for him.  That is true for all the furniture in the Oval Office--including the carpet.

Of course there is a budget line available for all new furniture if the President wants it.  Most new administrations change the desk and major furniture in the Office.

I wonder what happened to the previous presidential desk.

All Oval Office furniture is stored so that future Presidents can pick and choose items they may want to use from previous administrations.

I'd say it's more immoral that he attatched a butt plug to the top of the desk in the first place than to sit on the thing.

That would mean big ol William Howard Taft sat on it and he was over 3 bills, yikes that is one strong desk
