I'm a huge fan of Real Time with Bill Maher and always catch his show on HBO Friday nights.
He is a fair, albeit democratic in beliefs, critic of American politics.
For instance, he strongly feels that Obama has dropped the ball in terms of all the bullshit he promised the American people before coming into office.
He strongly believes that Obama is a fucking pussy who can't pass anything in Washington unless it appeals STRONGLY to the Republicans, to the point where his democratic base becomes annoyed or disgusted with his mutilation of what once might have been a Pro-Democratic bill, progressively showing more of a bias for Republican needs.
Maher is also able to take an objective step back from both left/right wing politics and instead approach ideas with an open mind in order to reach a viable solution that will help EVERYONE.
Another thing he does, which I appreciate, is that he leaves all the religious bullshit out the door when analyzing anything within society. He doesn't allow any external forces to influence his "feelings/emotions" on how things "should" be.
He isn't perfect, but he certainly is a very witty and informed comic. In my opinion, after the death of George Carlin, he is probably the only other comedian that shared all of George's views and could possibly, after much polishing and revising, bring the same kind of magic that George did. Again, that last statement is a stretch, but their styles are very similar.
Also, Bill Maher owns Bill O'Reilly to oblivion all the time, not just on Maher's show, but also while on O'Reilly's show, for that alone he gets points!
