Orville Burke played  the part of one of the featured apes in that Wahlberg production.

I first met him while he was sitting in the make-up chair getting converted during a very long conversion process.

Wahlberg is no slouch when it comes to throwing punches or taking hits and asked the 'ape' to make it look more real and throw authentic punches during that monkey/man fight scene toward the end, but the director didn't want anyone getting hurt (which would force a production delay) so the 'monkey' was directed to calm down a bit.

Any GetBiggers ever visit VASQUEZ ROCK?

IMPORTANT THING TO WATCH FOR ..... During this past year there has been an 'attempt' to give these motion capture artists more 'credit' within the motion picture industry ... and possibly even Academy Award consideration even though you never see that actor/performer on the screen .... but you do see the character that they are portraying.

I think Andy's performance as Caesar is going to bring this subject matter to the fore-front once again and it will be interesting to see what transpires.

Gotta add this about the movie ...

Small SPOILER ALERT .....

John Lithgow did another great job in this movie,
.
And ditto regarding James Franco and his reaction when CAESAR pulls him close and whispers, "Caesar is home!"

Franco gave one hell of a great performance in PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and should have received the Oscar that year ..... Or did he?

I know NOTHING about his forthcoming films (shown below) but I'll be darn surprised if he doesn't get Oscar consideration for at least two of them

Lovelace (pre-production)
The Iceman (pre-production)
Oz: The Great and Powerful (filming)
Cherry (filming)
The Stare (post-production)
Maladies (post-production)
Sal (post-production)

I actually hate James Franco, especially his job at the oscar

damn he was bad, and he looked fucking stoned the whole time

STAV, yea ... no one thought he did a great job at the Oscars but if you saw him in  "Pineapple Express" as a likeable stoner, you'd see what a great actor he actually is.

And I think he did a good job in the Apes movie.... especially his reaction when he learned that Caesar could talk. Not Oscar material but it impressed me.

Just saw it.

It was cheesier than I expected, and less violent than I hoped for.

3/5.

The whole thing felt like it was building to a Part 2 with no end in sight in this one.

You do realize this is the prequel to the previous films?  That's usually what prequels do, set up the films that take place after it in the story line.

I'm sure there will be, it's making decent money so why not.

I finally went and saw it last night.  I was a little disapointed with the decision to use human-like eyes for the apes and there were some shots that were less than stellar (cg wise).  Franco also kind of ruined it for me in a lot of places that he should have pulled through, i.e. the scene where he was dropping Ceasar off at the ape shelter, his lines were very forced and flat.  As a stoner, he's a great actor but put him in anything serious and he always falls short.

Overall I'll give it a 7.5/10.
